Dec 30, 2004 From the bottle, this poured a deep mahogany color with a short-lived fizzy white head. The aroma is of sweet malt and dried fruits. Medium bodied, this has rich, sweet malt flavors... sweet, but not cloyingly so. There are also hints of fruit and caramel. Nice dunkel.

Jun 21, 2005 Dark amber with a rocky tan head. Pine hop aroma mixed with molasses. Toasted malty taste with coffee notes. Oily texture. Light bitter aftertaste, slight dry lager finish.

May 17, 2005 Burgundy color. Light malt nose with hints of plums and berries, along with caramel. It’s quite dry as well. Palate is round and complex, smoky, and full of rich malt flavors (caramel, toffee, fruit) along with hints of vanilla. Creamy mouthfeel, yet slightly watery texture.

Aug 27, 2007 Bottle. Pours a very deep clear ruby-brown with a large mostly-lasting off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, slightly roasty, and dark fruit. Delicious flavour of toasty caramel malt, dark fruit, and a lightly bitter, dry chocolaty finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. A very nice version of the style and one of the better ones I’ve tried, I really enjoyed it.

Oct 15, 2006 Bottle pours brownish and slightly cloudy with a foamy offwhite head that stays well and laces some. Aromas of nuts, caramel and light chocolate. Flavor is quite malty, caramel, chocolate, and nuts with a touch of coffee as well. Smooth easy drinking with a soft mouthfeel and a lingering malty finish.

Jun 4, 2005 Pours a deep rich cherrywood color with a dense creamy light brown head. Smells of rich malt and caramel. Bready.
Taste is the same as the nose. Bready and really malty. Some light finishing hops. Lightly sour. Rich caramel and fruity. Mouth is sweet and lightly sticky. Pretty tasty dunkel.

Aug 25, 2005 Poured a beautiful brown, No real head to speak of but lacing lasted. Malty slightest bit of smoke. Smooth malty taste sweet with a little to much fizz. But most enjoyable will try again.

Sep 5, 2009 Pours dark brown from 500ml bottle with a generous hea. Aroma is malt,yeast, and dried plums. Nice mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, and 500ml bottle - Pours dark brown with a big, fluffy head that leaves nice lacing. I smelled malts, yeast, and dark fruit. Excellent long finish, malt, dried fruit and a good balanced alcohol kick. Very drinkable.
