Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Dark copper colour, small lasting head. Thick malty aroma, with clean balanced flavours of light chocolate and coffee. Dry, bitter, lasting finish.

Rerate Came away a little less impressed this time around - brown bread flavor not as prevalent and the pour was pretty lifeless. Original 3.9[/] Dark brown pour with a generous, frothy, mocha colored head - thick lacing. Sweet, malty aroma of baked brown bread, wort and dates. Kind of like if they were to make an Ayinger Celebrator "Lite". Very good mouthfeel for a lager, just the right thickness. Flavor has some hints of caramel along with the dates and slight chocolate. Overall, an excellent Dunkel - probably the best I’ve had of this style.

Nice marriage of prunes and sweet earth...Slight tobacco effigy in hints of sugar cane...Promise is cultivated but its complexity is not tenacious enough to my liking...

Red-amber color, off-white head, and lively carbonation. Toasty malted candy aroma and a hint of sweet yams. Wheaty malt and plum fruit flavors. Some residual sweetness. Palate is somewhat fizzy but smooth. A solid beer but lacking in depth.

A reddish brown appearance. Aroma is chocolatey but not overpowering. Flavor is slightly sour with a hint of chocolate and raisins. Fairly thin mouthfeel and overall not as flavorful as other Dunkels Ive tried. Pretty good but nothing that really stands out.

Pours a clear mahogany color, with a foamy head, moderate lace - semi-sweet aroma of caramel and roasted malts, some toffee and raisin - nice and smooth in the mouth - slightly grainy, medium sweet, with a background tinge of roast and nuttiness - gets a little sweeter through the middle, with notes of caramel and chocolate - finishes with a moderate hop bite - lingering doughy character - overall a very tasty, clean, smooth german beer.
