Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

Bought in the typical Ayinger brown tapered pint bottle. Nice enough looking dunkel poured in the glass chesnut brown with a nice large foamy white head..leaves great lacing. Nice malty aroma.. milky , chocolaty..some hop aroma in back. Taste is very sweet to begin with then darker ,bitterer tastes take hold..hop aftertaste..good but to "fizzy" I did not enjoy the mouthfeel of this beer..its too carbonated. apart from the carbonation level..this is a nice drinkable dunkel.

Bottle at Viking Mariella. Amber color, very nice creamy lasting offwhite head. Malty aroma, brown sugar, some nuts, some butter. Malty roasted flavor, some hops, some sweet fruits.

500 mL bottle. Pours mahagony with a medium tan frothy head that lasts a while. Aroma is yeast (barn, earth) and caramel malt (grain, meal) and maple. Malty, yeasty flavor, low sweetness , no bitterness, acidity. Medium bodied and smooth, light fizzy palate.

This was quite good. Chestnut brown under an ample tan head. The aroma was sweet malt, chocolate, molasses, some herbs. Texture was a tad thin but otherwise medium bodied. The flavor was a pleasant sweet maltiness without being cloying. Some brown sugar, chocolate, malted milk balls. Nicely done beer that is certain to please.

Pours a clear dark garnet/amber with a substantial light tan head that provides lacing. Nutty roasted malt aroma. Sweet roasted malt flavor along with some molasses and mild hop spiciness. Very good example of the style. A simple, but flavorful dunkel that’s easy to quaff.

Toasty and malty and delicious. Really has a hardy, manly flavor to it. It doesn’t just look dark, it tastes dark.

Bottle. Gorgeous crystal clear mahogany color, thin quick tan head. Malty, but not heavy, Well balanced bittering hops, tepid flavor and aroma hops. Nice clean finish. Tasty brew in lieu of the Fest-Marzen. Solid beer.

Pours brown, creamy head. Nose is malty, sweet, maybe some dark fruit. Flavor is malt, dark fruit, coffee, and a little dustiness. Maybe my glass was dirty. Easy drinkin brew.
