Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate in color, you can see a wonderful reflection if you hold it up to the light. It is round and soft with the warm, sweet aroma of freshly roasted malted barley. A satisfying, malty taste, with coffee-ish tones and a hint of plummy fruitiness in the finish. Complex and beautifully balanced.

16.9 oz. bottle. Sweet, oily, slightly plummy classic German dunkel aroma. Bright, sparkling, gold-tinged brown color. Moderate amount of fluffy beige head. Surprisingly tart, hoppy flavor for a malt-oriented brew, and that’s great for a hops lover like me. Very interesting, unique malt flavor that I can’t put my finger on but that I really enjoy. Excellent flavors could stand to be a little stronger. Very crisp, fizzy, and satisfying to the palate and very drinkable. I am pleasantly surprised at just how tasty this beer is, given that malty German brown lagers aren’t my favorite style. This is probably the best dunkel that I have ever had.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Wonderful malty aroma with dark rosey amber presence. Delightfully full body with tones of toffee and carmel. Served with fresh homemade pretzels and whole grain mustard - a wonderful treat.

Translucent brown with a nice sustained tan head... Aroma is slightly sweet, a touch hoppy, dominated by toffee, chocolate, and bread with a hint of grass... Taste is dominated by chocolate and breads with more grassy hops in the background... Mildly warming, excellent mouthfeel..

Beer pours attractive copper color with a big fluffy tan head that is fully retained. Aroma is dopplebockish. Malt aroma with caramel. Flavor is excellent. Flavor is sweet malt with roasted nuts and caramel. I only wish I could get this locally. This is a top notch lager.

Very satisfying dark lager, richer and more complex than the Heineken Dark and Beck’s Dark that I order (and enjoy) in bars; unfortunately not available in those bars, but worth drinking when I find it.

The underappreciated style done right. Wonderful balance of dark malts. Rich, but not overdone, in keeping with the style. Balanced, but terribly fun. As Philly2112 says, don’t look for hops here. That’s just not the point.

One of my Wife’s favorite beers and one that I have enjoyed sharing with her on a number of occasions. ......Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a rich, deep mahogany color with a huge, slowly dissipating head. Slight aroma was moderately malty and had a touch of molasses. The flavor was strong with toasted malt flavors and hints of caramel and molasses. Excellent.
