I’m very partial to Franziskaner and Weihenstephaner. But, you know, I tried the Ayinger and liked it much better than even those. Why? The smoothness and mildness of this one, the yeasty bready nose, the banana sweet flavor. I tried to sip this one but downed a 1/2 liter like it was nothing. The head on the beer is a lot so you have to pour slowly or the entire glass will be foam. This is top Hefe in my book, many others are very good, but I’ll take this one whenever there is a choice. Impressive sharpness to the taste. A tiny bit too sweet, but another great Hefeweizen. 17thfloor (1481), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Smooth carbonation, very light and fluffy for a medium bodied beer. Really like the understated flavor. Not overwhelmingly sweet like some imitators. Very balanced. I do not care what others think, Ayinger is the best! I am also a hefeweizen fanatic, so I am a little biased. robforbes (1094), Bremerton, Washington, USA

smell - wheat, lemon, yeast, spice, fruit.
taste - fruit, lemon, wheat, there is a sweetness on the back-end that is also a bit tart, leaves the mouth slightly dry and wanting more.

This brew did not disappoint. Pours an absolutely exquisite pale golden color with a foamy snow white head. Yeasty aroma with very subtle banana notes. I got the slightest clove notes, but that might be my mind telling me that it should be in a hefe! Flavor was a fruity/citrusy balance that was light enough to be very thirst-quenching. This hefe skews a bit lighter than others, but there is no loss in flavor. Just another solid offering from Ayinger. d1ringer (8), USA does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 23, 2007 Bread and butter taste with a slight lemon flavor. Perfect to eat with a nice steak, I love this beer but it is very expensive. Worthy every penny, Love it holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Aroma is yeasty with wheat, malt, banana, and clove. Similar flavors a little fizzy but still creamy from the wheat. Decent beer.
