Enjoyable Doppelbock. Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Jun 3, 2009 Poured amber with white head. Aroma of sweet malt and some fruit. Good candy flavor with some fruit. Harsh finish. Cirrhosis (607), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 2, 2009 O.K. this is my very first doppelbock that I’ve drank so I’m not to sure how they’re suppose to taste, so I guess I’ll just have to do general review. This stuff is dark, dark brown almost black with a half inch of brown head that is made up of very large bubbles. The smell is very bitter with coffee, wood and old fat woman sweat (you know that sweet salty stink that reminds you of grandma) being what I notice most, there is also a slightly smoky smell as well. I like the way this stuff smells buts it s kinda of weird. Good mouth feel, thick, not oily, and good carbonation through every sip. The taste is very nice it reminds me of a weaker version of a porter. Coffee, and deep roasted malts, and raisins are what I notice most, and they all have a slight smoky taste to them. There was also a very noticeable hop presence what was very nice surprise and the greatest thing about this beer is the little goat that hangs around the bottle neck that they give with each one. I might have to come back and redo this review when I’ve had more doppelbocks so I can compare better." Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada May 30, 2009 A dark dark reddish brown brew with a nice, thick tan head and decent lacing. Aromas of massive warmed malts, toffee, and coffee. Sweet and tasty sweet fizzy molassas, medium bitter coffee beans. Very full mouthfeel and chewy as well. Good tingle on sides of my tongue - you can breathe in the alcohol which warms the stomach. Super easy drinking. fidel (882), Livermore, California, USA May 28, 2009 Updated: Sep 5, 2009Poured dark brown, roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, little coffee, little dark fruits, little bready, little hops alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA May 24, 2009 Great beer!
