Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

Pours dark red and brown, small tan head that diminished rather quickly. Nose of malt, berries, wood, slightly smoky. Initial taste is slightly sweet and roasty, mild hop notes, finishes smoky with a hint of chocolate. Overall enjoyable, easily sessionable, although after a few i’m feeling rather funny!

This is pretty good stuff. I picked up some on sale at the local bottle shop. It doesn’t stand out incredibly from other Dopplebocks, but it seems to have just about the right combination of everything. Smokiness, texture, coffee flavor, and carbonation. If I had to compare this to a beer, I would probably compare this to Old Rasputin. Though I prefer this, as Old Rasputin is a tad too sweet in my opinion. This is probably the best Dopplebock I’ve had in a long time. Aroma is sweet & malty.

330 mL bottle from South Bay Drugs. Pours a dark brown with ruby red highlights and about one finger of light tan head which soon disappears. Aroma of somewhat musty grains -- reminds me of visiting the "feed and seed" stores as a child in rural Louisiana. The aroma is earthy but tends toward sweet as well with hints of toffee and nuts. Flavor is rich and slightly sweet with roasted and bready malts along with some more subtle hints of chocolate and ripe dark fruit. Well balanced, though the hop notes are subtle at best. And just as the commercial description states, there is a smokiness which becomes more pronounced in the finish.

Been quite a while since I’d had one of these. The hint of red in the color is beautiful. Rich, malty, good beer.

Can’t believe I haven’t rated this one before. One of the few beers in the world that comes with an ornament. =)

Pours a dark, muddy brown - opaque - with a dense, light tan head. Lots of roasty dark fruits in the aroma, with toasted marshmallow and chocolate-coated caramelized brown sugar. Something like candy seafoam - delicious. This is extremely malt-heavy. The flavor follows suit, but it’s really got a surprising balance to it, all things considered. Very rich, like candy in a glass, but with enough subtle hops and roastiness to clean it up and leave a nice finish. This is surprisingly good stuff, given its availability.

I have to agree with Chef Chad on this one. Nice brown head with small particles and a vibrant tan body. This brew was too heavy on the malt which left a tar and heavy smoke taste on my palate. Heavy handiness does not make a well rounded bock.

I liked it don’t get me wrong... Just not blown away like I should of been. Smells of malt and fig. Pours a brown with little to no head. Nice medium body that finish smooth. Flavor was malt and some fig...

From bottle. Very deep chestnut/ruby colour with a great frothy head. Rich aroma including berries and fruit with a hint of liquorice. Roasted, slightly smoked flavour. Rich caramel. Very easy to drink and extremely drinkable. Full o f flavour, chocolate in the finish. Enjoyable Doppelbock.
