Butters (1622), Virginia, USA May 2, 2009 Bottle shared with barrios courtesy of scottyp. Clear dark brown pour with ruby highlights and wispy off -white head. Nose of rich honey, brown sugar, apple, and many other things. Flavor is much the same. Medium body with a semi-silky texture This beer is an absolute delight. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA May 2, 2009 Bottle pours tan head that had some legs with a deep brown body with ruby hues. Stealing this from madvike (see below), it does smell like a toasted bagel. Some acidic and brown sugar notes as well. Flavor is toast, brown sugar, some acid, candi sugar. Finish has nice sugar, apple, and toast bitterness. Complex. madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 1, 2009 Wow...I could smell this beer all day. While it’s a nice brown pour with little head to speak of, the aroma is the real champ. It’s toasty and roasty, with a sweet, nutty malt. There’s toasted bagel and all sorts of other warm smells in there. The taste is right up there too, all sweet and roasty and ridiculously smooth. This beer has me wanting to explore more doppelbocks. noncaloric (602), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 30, 2009 Dark brown pour, very nearly opaque, some red highlights when backlit. Tall tan head, good retention, minimal lace. Malty aroma, figs and a touch of smoke. Flavor is a malt fest with plenty of dried fruit sweetness and boozy warmth, figs, raisins, apples, some smoke and hops balance out the flavor profile. Finishes on smoke, alcohol, and banana. Warm palate, but surprisingly thin bodied for the rich flavors. scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Apr 27, 2009 Pours clear, dark brown, with a medium light tan head, good lacing. Smells of apples, plum, figs, caramel, bread, and hay. Medium, velvety and crisp body. Pleasantly sweet, caramel apple flavor with some bread, and a little tart and bitterness in the aftertaste. Well balanced and drinkable. mpersinger (176), , California, USA Apr 26, 2009 Molasses brown pour with slight ruby light and plush 2-finger beige head. Aroma is syrupy with some smoke, as is flavor...without cloying sweetness or alcohol burn. Medium body with pepper note in long finish. MrPickles (108), Wisconsin, USA Apr 25, 2009 Updated: Oct 11, 2009What more can I add about Celebrator - I was told that is was one of the best beers in the world, and in my opinion I have to agree. Thick but not among the thickest, dark but amber or brown more than black. The head is thin and on the light side of carbonation. The flavor is complex and different with each sip. There is a list of about 1000 different flavors to describe this beer and they are all probably correct. This should be in any beer drinkers staples of beers, know that this is a almost perfect doppelbock, that should never disappoint. angrypirate06 (678), Texas, USA Apr 24, 2009 Bottle Dark brown pour. Aroma of raisins, dark fruits, maple. Flavor is darker, yeasty, roasted malts, molasses, caramel.
