Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

As for a doppelbock... this one is the cream of the crop. First of all it is sooo smooth. Rare in a db. The aging has to be the trick. Very balanced in character. The commercial description says it all realy.

Dark, Dark carmel with a creamy light tan head. Very malty and molasses nose. Flavor is a burst of aching nostalgia for me, remembering the dark, sweat, home made bread my grandma made on our North Dakota farm. Great lingering finish.

9oct08: 12 oz bottle
Rich malty aromas - melanoidins, toasty, bready, slight hints of molasses
Dark brown, clear, ruby highlights. Tan head with light retention
Rich malty sweetness with bready, toasty notes. A bit of bitterness to support the long malty finish
Medium body, medium-high carbonation, prickly
Nice doppelbock, the molasses seems out of place as does the prickly carbonation

Pours deep deep cola brown with no head (maybe too cold). Beautiful port-like aroma, wih roasted malt, and barely a hint of coffee and chocolate.. Slightly sweet, a little raisiny, and lots of alcohol. Mouthfeel is smooth, deep cich caramel taste that develops more on the finish. Just the right bit of bitterness to alance the caramel, hints of roasted malt. Delicious beer.

Pours a light brown. Excellent lacing. Sweet aroma. Excellent palate on this beer. Very smooth. Picking up some sweet brown sugar in the initial taste.

Dark amber brown with a tan head. Malty with a raisin taste. Extremely rich, but easy to drink. Best Doppel I’ve ever had.

Wow, tastes like grape juice, but this is a beer?! Very good taste and dark color. I would buy it more if it weren’t so expensive where I am.

Poured from an 11.5oz bottlle. Dark brown with a bit of red when held up to a bright light source. Thick, longlasting, tan head. Aroma of malt with a hint of raisins. Very thick malty taste with a nice hop balance on the finish. This is my first experience with a doppelbock. I can’t imagine one that could be better.
