cbeers21 (563), Miami, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pours an oily brown/black with thin mocha colored head. Musty fruits on the nose, plums, prunes, raisins, apricots as well as toasted chocolate and light coffee aromas which tingle the olfactory glands. A well rounded mouthfeel with diverse and contrasting flavors all over the palate, yet at the same time remaining refreshing and fairly well balanced. Mustiness of the myriad flavors provides a grandfather like association for me and leaves me with an espresso-like drying finish which leaves me to contemplate about stuff. Not overly potent, but the alcohol always seems to kick in harder on this brew. Not bad at all sir. maniac4016 (114), bill clinton, Iceland Jul 11, 2008 usually not a big malt fan, but give credit where it is do, this dopple will knock you on your ass if not careful, very smooth and decieving like a woman, be careful with this goat as he will ram his mighy horns up your ass if you try to abuse him. jkaiser (212), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 9, 2008 Extreme malts lead the charge with this Bavarian Import. Rich aromas of malt. Fruit and hops round out the balance nicely. Advanced beer. Black in color and High on flavor. FunkyBrewster (435), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 8, 2008 Updated: Oct 15, 2008Pours a dark amber brown color with a foamy off beige head. Aroma is heavy on the malt with notes of chocolate/caramel and dark sweet fruits. Flavor is nicely complex with very strong malt and fruit notes with some great earthy flavors as well, like fig and plum. Surprisingly drinkable for it’s complexity and full body, this is definitely one of the best doppelbocks I have had. southamptonsam (81), New York, USA Jul 7, 2008 Very pleasant drinkable beer. Well balanced, not too sweet. The second beer impressed me more than the first and I think the next will be even better. phildorsey (42), Fort Lewis, Washington, USA Jul 4, 2008 chocolate, earthy, light brown head, cloudy, brown foam, full body, thick feel, long finish. The wait is finally over; i’ve had my eye on this beer for quite some time. It’s a beer drinkers beer! v64 (74), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 Pours very dark reddish-brown, strong burnt aroma, almost like Guinness. Slight bit of hops in the taste, mostly roasted flavors, like coffee and chocolate.
