Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Mar 1, 2008 Updated: Jul 8, 2009First of all. This doppelbock is mega quaffable. So smooth, creamy & filling. Plenty of caramel/toffee, some sugar & a light roated malty touch. A gentle warmth & alcohol feel. Amazing for its style & even on its own!
Re-Rate July - 09. 3rd time Ive tasted this was from draft at brauereigasthof Aying: Sooo deep and complex. Nuts, vinous, caramel, dried fruits, liquorice, bread and roast. Very smooth, sticky and full palate. I had to have a whole Liter of this before call it the day. Draft version appeared much deeper and basically a new experience for me. 3,9 - 4,1 tnkw01 (124), USA Feb 29, 2008 Updated: Oct 19, 2009Since I have never had Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel nor Weltenburger Kloster Asam Bock I have to say this is absolutely my favorite beer. Aroma, appearance, taste, palate and overall perfect. (Had to re-reate because Andech’s beats it out!) beergeek86 (33), Clarksville, Maryland, USA Feb 26, 2008 this beer is ridiculously delicious. very interesting... only a 6.7% - kind of low for a doublebock, which is probably for the better. aroma - very fruity, with subtle with hints of raisins and caramel. flavor - light on the front - which quickly develops into a rich combo of coffee, butterscotch and fruit. there is a slight hickory smokiness that lingers in the backround that develops more fully with the finish. EXCELLENT BEER. would love to have again. LouieDog40oz (28), Germantown, Maryland, USA Feb 26, 2008 This beer is so amazing it makes it hard to actually describe. To start, the beer is a nice dark doppelbock which surprisingly is not very alcoholic. The aroma is very different and intriguing with a coffee tone which transitions to almost a hickory smoked kick at the end. The taste is very similar. To start there is a sweet fruitiness that quickly changes over to a coffee undertone followed by a strong hickory smoked bite. This beer is intense and wonderful. teebradford (46), Senatobia, Mississippi, USA Feb 25, 2008 This is one fantastic beer. World class. Had it from a bottle with a cool goat around the neck. I’m not too experienced tasting dopplebocks, but this has turned me into a fan. Its dark. The head isn’t as thick as an ale or porter. It smells good, like honey and wood. The palate is a malt feast! The malt just explodes in your mouth. There is just too much going on to put it into words. Hops are here, but the subtle kind. This is a fine, fine beer. My only complaint is its expensive, but you get what you pay for I guess. TET (226), Finland Feb 22, 2008 Celebrator is very dark beer with thin beige head. Aroma is very sweet and I can’t find anything else. Flavour is not so sweet and there are also some roastiness and bitterness. Carbonation is quite high but it balanced that sweetiness very well. Only sweetness in the aroma, more balanced flavour, nice to drink, but there should be something more. Maybe I don’t like the style that is notices also the points. But someone who likes the style... this is nice beer. rane (493), Nibe, Denmark Feb 21, 2008 Bottle. I´m a little surprised of the high ratings, not bad but I can´t find the sensational stuff.
Mahogany brown with huge brown longlasting head. Aroma malty and some bread notes and maybe some raisins. Taste malty, bread weak toffee notes. Very sweet and quite alcoholic. corkandbottle (2), Edmond, Oklahoma, USA does not count Feb 20, 2008 This is the first Doppel that actually has a more developed taste than nose. Amazing, this is far and away the best doppelbock available in Oklahoma.
