Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

I wouldn’t call this my absolute favorite, but its quality is unmistakeable. Attractive appearance with an interesting cascade-type effect. Aroma is smokey, chocolatey, molassas, vinous; in the tasting there is plenty going on, but the bitterness shows out without excessive sweetness. Well balanced. Went a bit flat for me, but I didn’t want to drink it any faster than I did. A beer to appreciate.

A hazy dark amber-brown color contrasting with an orange-tinged thick tan head. A smoky caramel malt aroma, with the flavor being that of caramel malt with touch of smoky molasses and bitterness from hops in the aftertaste.

Draught: Smelled sweet and choclaty, with lots of malt scent. Dark brown pour with medium tan head and good lacing. Tasted like pure malts, and maybe a little nutty. I could not drink this, thought it is not a style I typically enjoy. Still, I was able to appreciate the complexity of the brew. Just not for this hop-head.

(Bottle, Delirium Café, Gothenburg, 31 July 2007) Black colour with ruby notes, frothy brown head. Malty nose with roasted malt, dark rye bread, wort and a hint of brewing-house. Malty taste with dark rye bread, wort, chocolate and notes of coffee towards the finish. Dryish, grassy bitterness in the finish. Chewy mouthfeel, medium to full body. Great doppelbock in perfect balance.

This is everything that a beer should be. Full flavored, smooth, rich, etc. etc. It’s pretty much everything that it’s hyped up to be. My only complaint is the hefty price tag, at 17 dollars a six pack before tax a deposit, this is most certainly a "special occassion" beer.

The aroma is brown sugar, alcohol, herbs, coffee, toasted malt, and hops. The appearance is dark red/brown and the head is foamy. The flavor is caramel, coffee, raisins, chocolate, spice, nuts. The palate is just the right thickness for the style. The aftertaste is a bit acidic for my liking but overall it’s very good.

Re-Rate 08/07/02: As deep as garnet gets, before it becomes brown, the head is generous, frothy, long lasting and tonnes of beige lace. Nose is malt, caramel, smoky, and maybe even a bit ’peatish’. Front has a molasses like sweetness, with a light to medium top, the finish is dry, nice hop bite, lightly carbonated and ’One Hell of A Good’ doppel bock. Ranks #100 on my current top 1000 beer list.

Beautiful dark brew, nice presentation. Aroma is blackberry and roasty. Flavor is a distinctive coffee/toffee/berry. Dense palate with trailing bitter. Pricey, but a must-try.
