Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

Bottle: #300 - Real malty aroma. Strong buttery caramel and brown sugar nose. Pours a dark brown with a small off-white head that diminishes somewhat quickly. Nice malt upfront. Buttery caramel and malts in the front with some roastiness, dark chocolate, and light bitterness in the finish.

With 800+ ratings, it’s probably impossible to add anything new that hasn’t been said. So, I won’t. I’ll just determine the #’s like I normally would.

This is a really nice doppelbock (thanks legion242). Malty, pleasing aroma - the comfort food of beer. Dark, dark brown with off-white head. Smooth, pleasing palate. Wonderful taste (even my wife enjoyed this) with nice finish. Well-balanced - would definitely drink again.

Smoke burned aroma of malts. Poured black with a tan head that dissipated. Had a vanilla taste to it. Was dry on the palate for the most part but a couple of times throughout the beer it seemed watered downed. Good beer though.

Okay, I’ll admit this beer is pretty good, but the best doppelbock available? Not in my book. A little too bitter, and less flavorful than others. Still a solid offering by Ayinger, but certainly overrated.

This is a heavy beer. Fruity nose (raisins, dates), dark rudy brown color and a tall head that diminishes quickly. Caramel and maple syrup flavors end with a crisp, but light bitterness. The alcohol just burns the tastes right into your mouth. Medicine for the soul....

Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & tupalev - courtesy HogTownHarry. Dark ruby-brown with a small tan head. Aroma is rich and quite malty, with some dark fruit notes (especially grape). Body is pleasant, wth a mellow mouthfeel. Flavour is toasty and moderately bitter - nice, but seemed rather simple. Definately a very good beer, but I find it hard to think of it as being worthy of the Top 50.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark mahogany under a tight creamy two finger light brown head. Nice lacing remained. Thick syrupy malt aroma, very clean, with notes of tobacco, carmalized sugar, and caramel. Flavor is all malt again, with a thick roasty malt up front. Finish is lightly smoky with tobacco and light alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fine carbonation. Slightly syrupy and cloying on the finish. A good Dopplebock for sure, but not a top 50 beer in the world. Then again, that’s not anything that hasn’t been said a thousand times before.
