Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

Very dark beer. In fact if you just saw it sitting in the glass you’d probably mistake it for a porter as light only gets through around the edges (when it does, it gives a nice red wine color). The head is a thick, lumpy foam that’s a medium tan color. Unfortunately, mine seemed a bit skunky, but I could pick up some good malt aromas with the slightest hint of hops. The aroma was big, but not as big as the appearance would suggest. Caramel, bitterness from the dark-colored malts and some fruitiness I can’t place my finger on. This was all followed up by a bit of grassy hops. I also picked up a little black pepper, but it was faint enough, I’m not sure if I was just tasting things.

Aroma of sweet dark malts, chocolate, fig, and smoke - a really wonderful combination. Satin palate. Taste like dark roasted smokey coffee and chocolate with hints of fig and a remarkable caramel taste to round it out.

Rated 7/19/07. Deep dark brown pour. Almost black. Small off-white film that leaves behind minimal lacing. The aroma is really nice. I picked up mostly chocolate malts with a bit of coffee and perhaps the faintest hint of smoke. The flavor is a rich blend of bitter and sweet chocolate, with a smokey, hoppy, dry finish. Medium body makes this an easy drinking beer. Very nicely done. Similar to a smooth chocolate porter. Great beer.

Bottled. Dark brown with a fine beige head. Absolutely sex in a bottle this beer. Rich malty vanilla and caramel notes, all spiced up and yet evenly balanced. Another Happy Deli experience in NYC.

12bottle, pours very dark not like in the picture, with off-white head. nose is maple syrupy, toasty, and alcohol. i’ve never been a fan of the nose of this. flavor notes is slightly syrupy, maple syrup, nuts, toasted oats, and caramel. mild smokeyness in the finish. mouthfeel is full and rich. alcohol is well hidden. this isn’t my favorite doppelbock and imo isn’t worthy of top 50 status, it’s too syrupy and sweet, and isn’t complex enough. however, i do enjoy the brew but wish it had a bigger hop notes and more alcohol drying out the sweetness a tad.

Pours dark amber with a strong full white head...smells quite fruity and sweet...tastes a little hoppy but very roasty and not nearly as sweet as it smells...a little alcohol in the finish, which was a little bitter...good stuff...

Huge tan head, dark brown color w/ a very complex, rich, roasted taste, yet a clean finish. I haven’t been too impressed w/ the other doppleboack’s I’ve tried; however, I can understand why this one is world class. The more I drank it, the more subtle flavors I tasted. Great beer! It should be on everyone’s ’Must try’ list
