Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

Pours very dark brown with a rich yet bubbly tan head. The aroma is thick and malty with a mix of toffee and chocolate with some vanilla and cream. Medium / full body with some moderately sharp carbonation. Taste is lightly sour, vanilla cream, milk chocolate, roasted malt and dark toffee. The finish has some carbonation sharpness and more sourness. I don’t know the age on this bottle. I thought the beer was fine that I had but a far cry from one of the top rated beers in the world. I’ll have to retry this with a known fresh bottle at some point.

Deep brown in colour with a long lasting beige head. The aroma was amazing full of rich malt, caramel sweetness, smoke, molasses and some cookies. The flavour was of molasses, very malty, rich, very creamy, smooth with a bit of gingerbread. Full bodied. Finishes with a long mild bitterness. Many thanks to Steve for sharing his only bottle of this with me. You should have bought more!!

bottle. Pours dark brown with a moderate, rapidly fading head. Very pleasant malty aroma. Sweet, roasted malt taste with character of coffee and chocolate, nice full mouthfeel. Finish of roasted malts and a bit of alcohol, lingers for a bit but not too long. I’m glad to say it doesn’t have the cloying burnt malt finish that a couple similar beers I tried had. It seemed a bit lacking in complexity, though to be fair I’m not usually a big doppelbock fan.

A very good commercial Doppelbock. Rich malty and complex, you won't get it any better unless you brew it yourself. Worthy of all the positive statements others have made.

Bottle: Poured a deep dark black/brown with a thin light brown jello head. The aroma is roasted malt, caramel, but also has a veggie like hint to it not the common German beer. The taste is a rich dark malt with roasted smokey dry finish. After almost a year searching for this treasure I found it in New Mexico, that’s crazy since I live in Germany!

Nice 11.2 oz bottle with a necklace on it. Smells like buttered toast. Pours very dark brown in my steeler stein and is transparent. Initially very tasty with no offense to the tast buds. After a while however a hint of bitterness shows thru. This carries on to the finish where it lingers for awhile. This is really good beer but from the ratings it has I expected much more - perhaps even something great. Falls short in this respect. Troegs Troegenator is on equal footing with this beer and is a little less expensive. Weltenburger dopplebock is much better.

The double bock to end all double bocks. Truly worthy.

This is a difficult beer for me to rate. I am not a huge fan of the Doppelbock style and have learned from experience that I hate the bottled version of this beer. It is far too vegetal for my liking. But I recently had an opportunity to try the draft. So with ratebook in hand I delved into a glass of draft. The beer poured a black color with a large fluffy brown head. The aroma was faint but had some pleasant sour malt elements. The flavor was heavy and malty with a bit of molasses. The finish is sour malt. The beer is surprisingly sweet and far less vegetal than the bottle. A decent draft.
