Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

(Bottle on 2009-02-14) Deep dark brown and clear. Medium sized tan coloured head. Sweetness, rostedness and chocolate in aroma. Full bodied and quite thick palate with little carbonation. Malts, roastedness, chocolate, bitterness and bit of sweetness in taste. Chocolate and malts in aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small light tan head. Aroma of bready malt, pizza dough, roasted lager malt. Flavor is similar to aroma with lots of rich roasted malt. Very tasty and definitely the best doppelbock I have had to date. Smooth mouthfeel and rich body. Very nice. 8/4/8/4/15 (3.9/5)

This is perhaps one of my favorite beers. Excellent color, aroma, taste, good head retention. Very malty and excellent use of hops. Alcohol pleasently noticable. Drinks easy. I even purchased a speacial glass to drink this. I will attempt to brew this some day.

Bottle from a great trade with Koelschtrinker (thanks!). Dark brown, almost black, with a big light brown head. Outstanding malty aroma with roastiness, dark chocolate, caramel and some dark fruits. Sweet, rich, malty flavor, with chocolate, some coffee, some roast and prunes. A caramelly sweet finish with mild notes of hoppy bitterness and some alcohol. Full-bodied. Really great.

Pours a strikingly beautiful dark brown/mahogany with a thick light brown head. Aroma of smoke, caramel, dark fruits and a touch of alcohol. Taste is totally delicious. Sweet and full bodied with plenty of roated/toastedmalt, caramel, raisins, plums, hops, coffee, smoke and a hint of chocolate. Very complex. Mouthfeel is very full, round and creamy. Great lacing and head retention. Highly recommended.

Poured a very dark brown color with a dark tan head. Aroma is of a nutty maltiness and some sweetness and spice, but overall is not intense. Mouthfeel is perfect. Malt dominates the taste, with a mild spiciness and burnt tones as well. Excellent, but I expected this to blow away Optimator and it didn’t. The palate was better and that’s about it. I’ve have to do a side-by-side sometime.

[Rerate 3/25/08] Pours deep murky brown with a small fine film of head. Intoxicating chocolate, sweet raisin aroma. Delicious chocolate, very sweet raisin and dark fruit flavors, but mostly raisin. A little bit woody, but the flavors are somewhat light, as is the body/palate. Nice velvety carbonation though, and not incredibly sticky compared to other doppelbocks. An excellent easy drinking doppelbock, but I prefer those with more substance to match the rich flavor.

On tap at the Brauereigasthof, Aying 17 Jun 07. A tanned head. Dark brown coloured - almost black. Sweet fruity and malty aroma. Complex roasted and malty flavor with hints of caramel. No distict aftertaste, but a well balanced beer.
