Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

Rated Boulder Colorado July 31, 2003. Glorious dense ruby brown clear under a large beige tan medium lasting head. One of the best beer aromas around with BIG fruity (Raisins dates and figs), malty treacle and plum pudding aromas. Medium to chewy but very low carb body. Aroma hints at high sweetness but only minimal sweetness exists in the flavour which starts and lingers big and malty. Finish is slightly sweeter before moving to more bitter in the aftertaste. 90oF is not exactly the type of weather to be drinking this beer nevertheless a blessed brew.

Tall, creamy, tan head over a deep brown body with mahogany edges. Aroma is thick with pure malt and biscuity sweetness with plenty of room for chunky brown sugar, svelte dark chocolate and an edge of oily, black coffee. Sharp sulphur slashes through the aroma pleasantly and fits well with the slightly pungent figgy notes. A floral, honeyed element rounds out the aroma. The flavour has an elegant sweetness to it, like treacle, set against softly roasty coffee, a little chocolate, seguing into a plummy, figgy middle and finally into a long finish replete with toasted rye bread, toffee and first molasses. Medium bodied with a big oily/creamy texture and full, delicate carbonation. 33cl bottle, bbe 08/2008. A little bit of a downgrade from my earlier score of 4.5, but still a great beer worthy of praise.

A much deserved revisit for a rich classic. The pour reveals a deep, clear brown body contained by a medium-sized, frothy, very light tan head. A powerful and rich aroma emanates from my glass, full of dark sweet scents like mämmi, dates, prunes and milk chocolate. Behind that I find notes of toasted almonds. Overall, the aroma is sweet, malty and grainy in a good way. The flavour is quite sweet as expected, full of mämmi, dates and toffee. As it warms a hint of sweetened café au lait can be detected. The finish is lightly woody, lightly dry. Soft carbonation makes room medium to full body with a luxurious, velvety texture. A clean and classy classic all the way around, though slightly less enchanting than I thought previously. Original score of 9,4,9,5,18=4.5.

330 mL, tulip glass. Average sized tan head is creamy/frothy. Body is a deep garnet where light is able to pass through around the edges, otherwise it’s a brown/black. Aroma is a soft bouquet of malt scents. Lots of dark aromas prevail; caramel, molasses, coffee, chocolate. Hops are perceptible in the aroma (barely) and smell of herbs. Perhaps some dark fruits are present also. The flavor starts off moderately sweet / lightly bitter and moves to a lightly sweet / moderately bitter finish. Very little acidity present. The mouthfeel is absolute perfection. Full, rich, creamy body has wonderful soft carbonation and simply glides down to your stomach. Absolutely beautiful beer!

Malty, creamy, full bodied, and velvety. slightly smoky dryness in the finish. Re-rate now that I know a little more about these things. Very nice and well balanced beer. Reminds me of fresh bread. Yeast is apparent but the malt and complexity take over.

Thick black color. Pour with a brown head. The aroma of the malt is pretty much all I pick up by smell. Malt does have a molasses type taste.

Bottle pored almost pure black with a medium chocolate head that lasted the entire beer with lacing that hangs in sheets! Aroma of roasty malt and coffee. Flavor of roasty malt, coffee and spice. Very, very good and easy drinking.
