Commercial Description:
Celebrator has a creamy head of tight bubbles contrasting beautifully with its profound dark robe. It is full-bodied and velvety from half a year's aging. Although it is strong, it is not overpowering. There is a wonderful and complex balance between the various malts, the alcohol and the subtle hops. A complex fruitiness of roasted malt and whole hop flowers make Celebrator great as a party drink with friends and family at celebrations. Despite its richness, it has a faintly smoky dryness in the finish.

I love this beer when it’s fresh! Dark chestnut brown color, delicious malt nose (not oxidized this time), a little esters and alcohol poking through....ahhh. Then you get to taste it! Sweet maltiness, hints of raisons, great munich malt chewiness, beautiful! I only wish they would use the older recipe that left more body to it. Well progress in brewing science and changing audiences will do that.

Coffee and fruity nose, beautiful deep black color. Pours with a fizz, but is not over-carbonated. Not an exceptionally weighty head, and a lighter mouthfeel than would be expected. Taste is sweet and warm. Marshmallow tasting when chewed. Wonderful stuff, this beer.

My favorite doppelbock. Very rich and malty, almost like candy (caramel?). Thick and chewy, but remarkably easy to drink - goes down smooth. Of all dark and heavy beers, this one makes a great introduction to the style for the novice (albeit in the sink or swim mentality). It was my first double bock and remains my favorite.

Re-Rate 08/07/02: As deep as garnet gets, before it becomes brown, the head is generous, frothy, long lasting and tonnes of beige lace. Nose is malt, caramel, smoky, and maybe even a bit ’peatish’. Front has a molasses like sweetness, with a light to medium top, the finish is dry, nice hop bite, lightly carbonated and ’One Hell of A Good’ doppel bock. Ranks #100 on my current top 1000 beer list.

Wow!!! Obviously the standard by which all doppelbocks will be measured. What a delight to smell. Dominant aroma is malt in many layer with many interpretations. Included are bread, molasses, coffee, and alcohol, oh and dont forget the roasted nuts. Beer pours up beautiful creamy light brown head which is partially retained. There is some light lacing. Color of beer is ruby-brown. Flavor is wonderful and complex. Layer after layer of sweet malt and just a touch of chewiness. This is an experience worth repeating over and over.

Pours a very dark brown, and almost syrupy. Thick tan head which doesn't linger long. Some roastiness to the nose, but also a very sweet aroma. Very sweet taste. Serious quantities of malt. Lots of chocolate. Some subtle fruitiness. Alcohol somewhat evident, but not the overpowering taste. This is very complex. This is great!

I can’t believe a beer this good can come out of a bottle. The head is creamy beyond belief and the flavor is bold and round.
