Has a light fruity sweetness with a smokey character. And most importantly, this is the only beer that comes with a free toy. DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 25, 2002 For my 100th rating i wanted something to really tickle my tastebuds and i definitely was not disappointed with ayingers celebrator dopplebock. The aroma permeates the nose with raisins, vanilla, roastiness, coffee, chocolate and numerous other small things come to mind. The Celebrator pours a beautiful dark dark brown with slight hints of dark ruby seen in the light...and it head was minimal at most, though mildly creamy for the first sip or two. The carbonation is the true key here and Ayinger has captured the magic of little bubbles tickling the tongue in just the right manner. The taste is of major roastiness...coffee and mocha are apparent, but definitely something fruity and lambic like...extremely complex and thats why im digging it so much as i drink and write this. It has a nice acidic, dry ending with those subtle hops doing their part leaving a sweet malty aftertone and an extremely happy palate. I must say that im very impressed here. Well... 100 down, 2475 more til i catch Oakes...away i go! The liver must be punished :-)
RERATE 12/25/02: It was time for the true test to put my top couple of beers head to head and get a true feeling of what is the king out there. Aside from my description last time, i found the flavor in this bottle to be highly lacking the usual kick found in this dopplebock. Im knocking it down a rating or two based on the fact that i was way too drunk last time to give it a true raing. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 3, 2004 The aroma is strong, sweet with notes of prunes, brown sugar, citrus, coffee, malt, and bitter chocolate. The color is deep red-brown and it has a beutiful lasting light brown head. The flavor is sweet malty with very strong roasted notes; coffee, roasted bread, combined with caramel, alcohol, citrus, and more - great complexity. The alcohol runs prickling over the tongue and gives it a good palate. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

Flavor is slightly sweet with a chocolate flavor. It hides the alcohol well. A real winner but I don't see how this is one the best beers in the world. Allseeingeye (223), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 13, 2002 Molasses nose. Small spindly head doesn’t last long. The lace creeps back down into the opaque black ruby color of this delicious brew. Smoky fruitiness, plums? on the finish. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
