Notes of molasses, chocolate, nuts, & faint traces of fruits. Lovely DARK brown color with compact light tan head. Wonderful malty, lightly roasted, chocolate, and nut flavors with again a hint of dark fruits. Finishes dry for such a malty bier, very drinkable. Perfectly bittered for balance. Wonderful viscosity, not too thick or thin, again aids in the drinkability. Overall an enjoyable bier, easy to see why it’s the top rated Doppelbock. Very drinkable, reminiscent of a good scotch ale without the smokey notes.

Sweet malty aroma that really overwhelms anything else. Sweet flavor with mostly apple, pear, and raisin but also some nuttiness and a hint of chocolate. Medium bodied. Probably as good as a dopplebock gets in my opinion. rugbydude05 (298), Kew Gardens, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2009 30cl on tap at restaurant. Pours a semi-translucent dark amber color with minimal head. Aroma is well balanced between spices, malt, and hops in that order. Taste is very spicy but like the aroma is well balanced with nothing too overpowering. Body is full and is active while on the palate- you can feel the carbonation. Really nice complex beer, good to combine with food. beerfest5 (173), Simsbury, Connecticut, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Dopplebocks in general are not my fav, way too sweet for my taste, but I knew that this was good when I first tasted it. I kind of consider this to be more of a desert beer, i can have only one at a time, great malty sweetness but not overbearing, toasted hazlenut flavor and goes down so smooth.
