Bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville. I thought I’d rated this before, but apparently not. I was underwhelmed the first time, but I thought I’d give it another shot. So, for me, this is a re-rate. Pours a dark chocolate brown with a large brown head. Brown sugary wheaty aroma. Kind of off-putting. Nice malty taste. It has a "off" aroma and taste to me, but it’s minor (maybe it was bigger with my last bottle), so this is still enjoyable.

Oct 8, 2008 Pours a light brown. Excellent lacing. Sweet aroma. Excellent palate on this beer. Very smooth. Picking up some sweet brown sugar in the initial taste.

Oct 7, 2008 Dark amber brown with a tan head. Malty with a raisin taste. Extremely rich, but easy to drink. Best Doppel I’ve ever had.

does not count  Oct 7, 2008 Wow, tastes like grape juice, but this is a beer?! Very good taste and dark color. I would buy it more if it weren’t so expensive where I am.

Oct 4, 2008 Poured from an 11.5oz bottlle. Dark brown with a bit of red when held up to a bright light source. Thick, longlasting, tan head. Aroma of malt with a hint of raisins. Very thick malty taste with a nice hop balance on the finish. This is my first experience with a doppelbock. I can’t imagine one that could be better.

Sep 30, 2008 Oh this is a terrific Doppelbock. Aroma of candied fruits. Beautiful dark ruby red pour. Taste of fruits, malts some hops in the finish. Best example of the style I’ve tried.
