On tap at Ayingers Speis und Trank in Munich as Ayinger Naturtrübes Kellerbier.
Yellow coloured, small quick-disappearing airy white head, bready barnyard nose. No carbonation at all. Malty, slight flowery and hoppy taste with grassy and corny notes. Light dry finish.

Warm golden with a nice, huge, white and creamy head. The aroma is inviting with notes of flower and malt. The flavour has lots of flower, malt and a nice citrussy bitterness. The overall impression is smooth, nice and harmonic!

pale yellow of color with a white head. An aroma of hops, malt - notes of honey and sour malt. A flavor of malt, hops, hay and the same sour malt note.

Bottle at Annankadun William K., Helsinki (BB 12/07). Cloudy yellow, lasting small head. The cloudiest of kellerbiers I’ve had and pretty much opaque with all the hefe poured in. Nose is malty, slightly honeyish with hefe and some hops. Flavor is sweetish malty, yet fresh with honey and hayish tones. Thick mouthfeel with smooth carb, which is still pretty strong for the style. I suspect this has seen better days as it was past best before date. It’s propably crisper on the hops, as now it was quite rounded without that fresh vollbier aftertaste. Would really like to have a fresh one.

Keg (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Oktoberfest 2004) Competent kellerbier, but still just a lager. Aroma of flower blossoms. Honey in the finish.

Draught at the Brauereigasthof, August 2007. Second beer of a great meal. Poured a beautiful effervescent golden that deepened towards the center of the glass. Aroma was rich and malty while the flavor offered a balance of hallertau and rich malts. A very tingly mouthfeel and medium body.

On tap at Ayinger in Munich during our honeymoon. I knew Ayinger was around the Hofbrahaus, but I didn’t realize it was literally right out the door. Pours a cloudy yellow with a tall white bubbly head. Sweet malts and spice in the aroma. Yeasty smooth flavors, sweet but balanced well. Floral, lemon, nicely spiced with citrus and lighty bitter finish. Tasty and a great place to enjoy this beer.

The first time I had it I was wowed, this blonde, unfiltered kellerbier stood its ground against the beefy, hoppy Oktoberfest bier had on tap at the brewery outlet in Munich. Surprisingly delicious, the kellerbier is an extraordinary example of how wonderful Bavarian beers can be. I’d move to Munich in an instant because of brews like these. Grainy, fresh body that transcends trendiness.

re-rate. Hazy yellow and bright with thick white rocky-lacy head. Bright kellerbier aroma is more similar to Frankenbier thank I thought, with farm-fresh grains and has a granular palate to boot. Yeah, it’s as good as I remembered.
