On tap at the Speis & Trank, Munich November 2006. Gold coloured with a long-lasting, lacy white head. Aroma of hay, sweet malt and grassy hops. Flavour was mildly sweet with some lemony grain and a decent dry finish. Good.

At the Munich Ayinger-tap 0,5ltr: Pale golden coloured , and taste like the bavarian meadow mentioned just positively.

Bottle: Poured a copper yellow color with a creamy white head. The aroma is grassy and corny. The taste is a grassy bitter hoppy taste.

Draught Hazy pale beer with a slight greenish shine and a fast gone white head. Fresh, light-grassy nose, pale malts, hay. Very refreshing, fresh taste light grassy, pale malts, white bread. Light to medium bodied, bit slick and highly carbonated MF, which is strange. A nice beer, but the difference with the Helles is less than expected.

Dark yellow colored, cloudy appearance. Vanishing white head. Yeast, earthiness, dominating fruitiness with even some pineapple there. Medium bodied. Flavor is also earthy with mild cardboard and lemony fruitiness, some banana and yeast also there. Biting carbonation, weird for kellerbier.

Vom fass @ Ayinger speis und trank, München, Germany.
Second up after their magnificent Doppelbock and after polishing off a side of nibblies. It produced bright in the stein - a sunny gold, quite pale, with intermittent, sluggish and minute bubbles. Head, the art of the gifted Bavarians, was your standard two-fingers and messy, weaving strange globules of froth down the glass as it went. Flowery rose petal waft on first sniff, some honey trails - it smells of summer. Seamless fresh toasted bread and dusty, haystack grains lift in from underneath, clean and well defined. Hops, not evident on the nose are truly swimming in the flavour. The body is light, it is spritzy and bounces across the palate in zero gravity. A lot of flavour here - light esteric sweetness of candied fruit upfront (Starburst!?!), ample pale grains, light toasted malt edge. Flowery again like the aroma, tangy as it hits the sides. Good earthy, resinous hops play in and blend well, back end is all dry and musty, fruit dries out. Gentle bitterness on the swallow, the carbonation aids in making it crisp, the length nothing more than some earthy, noble hops that linger and draw in just enough saliva for another sip. A simple Kellerbier that did its job quite wonderfully. Another good day in München, ’another beer please, meine ober!?!’

Served at Speis & Trank across from the HB and next to the Hard Rock (sigh). I am now curious as to what they had on draught at the München Hard Rock but I really didn’t want to take the time to find out. A rich and inviting beer with a hazy, golden look to it. Floral and biscuity. This was a very nice welcome to Munich indeed.

Big coarse white head disappears almost immediately. Pale yellow body with some carbonation and a slight haze. Earthy, floral aroma with notes of grain. Taste of sweetish straw and fruits and a touch of rubber with floral hops. Dry, floral aftertaste. Very soft mouthfeel. Dry, grainy taste lingers. Good, but not too special. (0.5l bottle.)
