Ryan82SM (155), Louisville, Kentucky, USA May 30, 2009 White grape, plum, apples and caramel round out the aroma. Appearance is light red with a little lacing in the glass. Flavor has some ripe apple, bread, caramel and sour grape. Palate is fizzy. Good, but not too outstanding. grandet (421), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2009 Bottle from jessup plaza. thanks chuck. Poured a nice amber color with a big off white head that lasted a long time. Aroma is sweet malt and some caramel. Taste is nice and big. Lots of malt sweetness and mild hops at the end. Pretty good marzen. lumpsowers (235), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Apr 12, 2009 Sweet and malty beginning, light, somewhat watery, sticky fruity and flowery hops. Fair Oktoberfest.
glennmastrange (687), hobe sound, Florida, USA Apr 9, 2009 Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of roasted, and bisquit, light herbs for the hops, light yeast notes of leather and earth, with backround notes of butter, honey, and faint spice. Head is large, frothy, slightly off-white, with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is clear orange/tan. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation and finishes lightly metallic. This was a tough beer not to down in a few gulps. Great tasting and easy drinking. djd07 (606), Houston, Texas, USA Apr 9, 2009 Bottle as shown. Pours a copper golden with a large frothy white head taht lasts awhile. The aroma is a wheat malt with grain and caramel. Good sticky lacing on the glass. Thin mouthfeel with a sour taste and a sweet finish. Easy to drink, a decent marzen from Ayinger. scooterbub (332), Lander, Wyoming, USA Mar 31, 2009 500 ml bottle, but says 5.6% abv. Pours a gold color with a small, clingy, beige head that slowly fades. Taste is of caramel, malt and some hops. Similar aroma Has a good bitterness to it and is a little sweet. Has a foamy mouthfeel. Easy to drink and fairly enjoyable. Not as great as what I thought it would be. Neat looking bottle and cap. RHeastings (218), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 28, 2009 Enjoyed via 16.9oz bottle. Pours a medium to deep gold. Nose of Munich malt, and a touch of fresh-baked German dark bread. Smooth and balanced on the palate; malt up front with just a touch of balancing hops. Initial hop bitterness and flavor may be a little higher, as this example is nearly one year old. Finishes clean, just a touch flowery, and just barely on the sweet side of neutral. The quintessential German Oktoberfest beer.
