noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Dec 21, 2008 Clear amber-orange pour with a big dense tan head that leaves generous lace. Aroma strongly yeasty and malty with a twist of green apples. Flavor is very yeasty and bready, with a little citrus, gumball, and clove. A slight metallic tang was sometimes detectable, but this was the only off element. Medium bodied, well carbonated, crisp mouthfeel. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Dec 19, 2008 Surprisingly average given the hype. Maybe I am just not a huge fan of this style or of Brauerei Aying. Similar to Sam Adams Octoberfest. Good, but not special. Strong caramel malt, hardly any hop character, slightly bitter finish. Standard Oktoberfest appearance and mouthfeel. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Dec 15, 2008 Pours clear orange amber with good white head. Sweet vanilla aromas with caramel. Sweet, buttery, malty classic marzen flavor. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Excellent example of a german ofest, but im not the biggest fan of this style. Brewsmith (136), Torrance, California, USA Dec 11, 2008 From a 0.5 L bottle purchased locally. Aroma is rich with malt with a little sweetness and maybe a hint of orange peel and something slightly mango peppery in there in a good way. Deep golden color with a big off-white head, crystal clear. Flavor is bready rich malt with some of that toasty malt from the aroma. Some sweetness but balanced with the slight hint of bitterness. Clean and drinkable. Makes me want some bratwurst. Slipstream (734), USA Dec 4, 2008 Cute cap. Rust / orange colored pour with a plush head and spotty lacing. Aroma is mild and sweet, with noticeable yeast and Mitteleuropean hops. The flavor is fresh, malty, and bready, but with a little corny sweetness. Modestly hopped and light on the palate. A good beer of its kind. milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Nov 29, 2008 Pretty solid Octoberfest. Solid malt presence....crisp flavor and good finish. Overall a good octoberfest. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Nov 27, 2008 (10/13/08) Draught at Map Room in Chicago. Clear deep golden color with a small white head. Malty aroma with some toast and caramel notes as well as nutty hints. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel, toasted bread, some light fruitiness and light buttery hints. Medium-bodied. Nothing exciting, but OK. ericandersnavy (1038), crossroads, Texas, USA Nov 19, 2008 bottle picked up at kegs and barrels in mckinney tx. poured a clear orange with a thin white head. aroma of malt, spice, and caramel. flavor of malt, spice and hops. very well balance o-fest.
