Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Sep 17, 2008 Pours an awesome dark amber color with hints of ruby with a very nice finger’s width head. Smells spicey with hints of honey and malts and earth. The aroma pretty much matches the taste in a great way. It is full bodied and a great representative of the style. Awesome. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Sep 16, 2008 It is interesting to note the disparity of flavours and aromas found in this beer, depending on the year it was rated. I found it to be a solid rep of the style, but with nothing flashy or special going on. Straightforward buttery caramel malt with a low floral hop profile in the finish that almost becomes unnoticable after the first few sips. heynik1885 (53), tonawanda, New York, USA Sep 15, 2008 Poured from 500 ml bottle, cool cap! awesome golden amber color, big fluffy head, some lacing on glass. Sweet flowerey smell, taste is refreshing full bodied and last for awhile. Awesome oktober fest, my favorite by far. MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 14, 2008 Bottle. Pours a coppery gold with a large head and aromas of honey bread, grain dust, floral malts and a bit of spice. Flaor is a great mix of the above elements... starts out with honey like sweetness, ends with dusty malt. Bring on October!!! kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 14, 2008 50cl bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a clear copper color with thick and creamy tan head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, flowers, spice, some banana. Flavor is very much the same--creamy mouthfeel with sweet malt, some spice, some light hops, and hints of nuts. Lively carbonation. Medium body with a slightly sweet, quick finish. mjs (1445), Helsinki, Finland Sep 14, 2008 (Draught at Hilpeä Hauki on 2008-09-12) Copper red, Clear. Medium sized quickly disappearing white head. Quite full bodied palate with medium carbonation. Malts, salty liquorice, bitterness and sweetness in taste. mcsquint (93), , Missouri, USA Sep 13, 2008 Updated: Nov 21, 2008Poured 16.9 oz bottle into 20 oz. mug. Nice golden amber color. 1-2 finger white head diminishing to none. Light lacing. Faint malty aroma. Medium body. Lightly sweet flavor that lasts to the finish. Moderate carbonation. Very drinkable. An excellent example of this style. notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 12, 2008 Pours a clear honey color, with a fizzy body, and a large, foamy head - aroma of honey-soaked bread, soft herbal characteristics, floral hops - medium body, full carbonation - dry and moderately bitter up front, with some herbal hoppiness - sweetness and bready malts come up from underneath that, but it is a clean sweetness, like cane sugar - this combines with the herbal character to create a brisk, tea-like flavor - finishes with lingering sweetness - a solid, refreshing o-fest.
