petzdrgonizbk (24), Tennessee, USA Oct 14, 2007 Pours a nice clear amber with a medium white head, and laces nicely down till the end. The aroma was not straight-forward but i did catch glimpses of citrus towards the end. Overall, a very nice beer actually one of my favorites so far. Maverick34 (686), New York, USA Oct 11, 2007 Pours a darkish gold w/ medium head. From Tap in NYC - and it was fantastic. Lots of complex flavors plus malts, really a very very interesting marzen. Ayinger just keeps making great beers. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Oct 11, 2007 WOW, one of the best marzens i have ever drank. Pours out an orange color with a large white head. aroma is citrusy, spicy, and very malty. Flavor is very much the same. I was overly supprised at this one. I enjoy octoberfest beers, but rarely come across one that tastes as good as this one. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Oct 10, 2007 500mL bottle. Pours a bright, medium orange-amber color; huge light-tan head that fills the glass; good retention and lacing. The aroma on this is pretty sweet, showing nougats and dried oranges and sugar; a bit overripe. Medium mouthfeel: I think where this beer succeeds over so many other märzens is in the adicity coming through from the citrusy hops: the hoppiness isn’t over the top or even all that immediate, but the jolt of lemony and orange acidity keeps that candy sugar and dried fruit core alive in the mouth; most other märzens are flabby by comparison. Lengthy, orange and candy sugar finish, with some mild citrus bitterness coming through. Derek881 (489), Frederick, Maryland, USA Oct 9, 2007 I liked this beer, but I was surprised to see how highly it is rated. The aroma was not too strong, some caramel maltyness, and a good bit of earthy and floral hops. It had a clear, amber-oragne color, with a medium-sized, creamy white head. The flavor was somewhat bitter and fruity, with some sweetness for balance. Pretty creamy and smooth on the palate, with some fizzyness; a good mouthfeel. Overall I thought it was a good beer, just not as good as some competing types. Imaena (259), Portland, Maine, USA Oct 9, 2007 pours a murky gold color and forms a nice white head. soild oktober fest offering. at the price of $3.99 pre bottle though which i paid for it today it is a bit pricy. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Oct 8, 2007 Updated: Oct 29, 2007Spectacular surprise on tap at the Ayinger outlet off Marianplatz in Munchen. This was the hoppiest Bavarian beer I have tried to date and extremely pleasant because of it. Reddish in color, which is unique to the array of Bavarian beers too. Really a splendid festbier. Alcohol is undetectable in the taste or palate but permeates your body with pleasure. I’m so grateful I was at the brewery outlet in Munich during fest time. juiceisloose (634), Windermere, Florida, USA Oct 7, 2007 This poured a nice amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was of sweet malts, bread and grains, and faint hint of hops. The flavor was much the same with the sweet malts dominating with the grains in the background. It was really sweet and sticky on the palate. Medium bodied that had a crisp dry finish to it. Not one of my favorite styles, but this one was pretty solid.
