Sassenach (59), USA Aug 31, 2007 Updated: Sep 1, 2007Pours an orange copper with fluffy white head that seems to last a bit. Smells of honey oat, sweet hay, and maple leaf malts. Tastes of sweet honey oats, slight maple leaf, and almost an ethereal peat malt taste. Nicely complex and dapper. This is what Oktober Fest is supposed to taste like. joohefner (380), Isla Vista, California, USA Aug 31, 2007 orange copper color with a medium sized head. strong malty orange aroma with light soy sauce note, and a good roasted quality. soft chalky body and light full bubbles. complex honey maple flavor and a light yeast flavor. the beer is a lot easier drinking than it looks and smells. legion242 (1572), Richardson, Texas, USA Aug 29, 2007 PLeasent enough, but would love to try it very fresh or on draught, ’cause I get the feeling that something is missing. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 25, 2007 Wow...this is on a whole different level than all of the American Oktoberfests I’ve had. Pour was an inviting light brown with a nice 2 finger head (there’s the heady Oktoberfest I’ve been looking for). Aroma of sweet malt with some roastiness...some dampness and funk in there as well. Taste was nice and malty with a humid mix of caramel, honey and roast. Nice carbonation. This is the first German Oktoberfest I’ve had this year and if the others are half as good I’ll be impressed. alafito (334), tijuana, Mexico Aug 13, 2007 Typical Marzen brew, a bit more sugary sweet than most with some roasted malts. Lots of caramel and honey tastes. A low hop profile with some light fruitiness added. Med-to low carbonation with some light yeast in the finish. I really must try these German Brews straight from the brewery some day... im guessing the long trip doesnt do them much good. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA Aug 9, 2007 Peppery lips follow an apple malt. Really picturesque. More complex the more I drink. Bitter is pleasant. Just not a taste I would want often. EEhhh... swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 6, 2007 On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Amberish color with sweet malty aroma. Sweet malty taste. medium bodied. pretty good
