grimreeser (795), Minnesota, USA Oct 6, 2006 Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma is bready and fruity with a bit of caramel in there. Palate seems slightly thin. Nice sweetness. AlKHall (161), West Hartford, Connecticut, USA Oct 6, 2006 copper - caramel - spicy - malty - bready and molassas -- somewhat thin body, but overall, very flavorful and well done. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Oct 6, 2006 Pours a deep bronze/golden with off-white head. Thick quality malt aroma with a hint of spicyness. Flavor is very malty, and hint of sweetness, bready. It’s bitterness is extremely light, however it’s still balanced. However, it’s nothing great, especially compared to Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest. themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA Oct 4, 2006 Finally, after many disappointing Marzens, success! Just about anything anyone could want from this type of brew. Not holding truest to the style, this brew is a relief in a sea of crappy Marzens. A little too much fruitiness for perfection but well done! Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Oct 4, 2006 Coppery colored, little white head. Surprisingly sweet aroma with caramel, mild toffee and fruits. Medium bodied. Flavor is as sweet. Caramel also there with fruits and slight hops, aftertaste dries, but only slightly. bobaidan (358), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Oct 2, 2006 Pours golden amber with a huge head. Aroma is malty with a undertone of floral hops. Flavor is not nearly as malty as most octoberfests, with a stronger hop presence. Well balanced, but not really true to the style. weeare138 (933), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 2, 2006 Appears a hazy, copper toned amber with a small, off-white head that fades into a fizzy collar. Streaks of lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of malty, sourdough, mild fruit, caramel, raw maple, with a off note that is a bit vegetal.
Taste is of the same aromas. There’s the doughy, caramel infused broccoli again that I’m just not digging. What the hell is that? It’s like an odd astringency that’s in there by accident. The sweet malts seem to be coving up for it’s inadequacies, nonetheless.
Mouthfeel is crisp, medium bodied, and slightly thin. This was one of the few Oktoberfests we found in the store during our weekend at The Jersey Shore. Even the wife was kind of let down with this, as it’s one of her favorite styles. Overall, it’s just sort of unexciting, and ho-hum.
It’s supposed to be a celebration, bitches! kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Oct 2, 2006 Bottle. Poured out a perfect orange-red amber hue with a heavy foaming off-white head. A nice doughy malt smell on this rich malty beer. A good oktoberfest beer that delivers a playful balance of malt and hops that finishes creamy and smooth.
