Sep 21, 2006 Amber-orange pour with a frothy head. Bread, orange, and malt in the nose. Light mouthfeel with a lot of flavor. Buttery is a good description, with a nice hop profile that balances the sweet malt character. Delicious.

Sep 18, 2006 Pours pale amber with a thick antique lace head that stays on. Aroma is sweet malt and fresh hop flower. The taste is buttery along with the sweet liqeur of lightly roasted malt. Has a delicious dry-hopped bitterness as well. A fantastic example of the style.

Sep 17, 2006 Pours orange with white head - surprisingly cloudy for a German lager. Aroma is largely malts (very doughy) - lots of caramel, hints of fruit (raisins, dried apricots). The beer tastes quite malty, with a very balanced level of hop bitterness. It starts sweet on the tonge with lots of malts and caramel and has a very bubbly mouthfeel. The beer finishes sweet with some hop bitterness. A fine example of the style.

Sep 17, 2006 Nice looking amber beer. Decent head. Very smooth soft malts and mildly sweet. Hops are pushed to the background but have a slight drying presence towards the end. The mouthfeel and body on this one is right on. One of the better Oktoberfest beers that I have had the privelege to enjoy.

Sep 16, 2006 Brilliant orange color with medium white head. great lacing. Nice bready, sweet malt aroma. Faint nuttiness and toasted character comes through as it warms. Just enough floral and spice to balance. Flavor is much the same. Caramel/toffee/roasted nuts up front, with just enough hop presence to help clean the palate. Perfect mouthfeel. Probabaly one of the most balanced beers I’ve had, score reflects that, more than anything. Another gateway beer for me, that IMO is way underated.

Sep 15, 2006 Pours deep amber into a nonick. Significant white micro head with excellent retention. Bread and caramel aromas. Upfront medium, creamy sweet caramel with a bitter, lasting finish.

Sep 11, 2006 Had on draft at smokin joes pittsburgh. Poured a nice medium brown color with a perfect amount of froathy tan head. Aroma is nutty and caramel with slight piney hop. Flavor is a bit nutty and doughy mixed with caramel and lactose. Overall, enjoyable.

Sep 10, 2006 Bottle. Pours a somewhat light copper with a big, rocky, offwhite head. The aroma is grainy with some lemon and cookiedough. It has a deeply grainy flavor with quite a bit of caramel, some hints of orange, and after a while a molasses-like sweetness. It’s mostly kind of sweet, but the finish has some woody and smoky tones. Not bad.
