Commercial Description:
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

The aroma is grainy and has mild floral hops, incense, and caramel malt. The appearance is red/copper with a foamy head that turned a little clumpy. The flavor is very malty and has plenty of caramel and some honey. It’s a simple taste but good. The palate is just right for the style but finishes papery. Very nice and true to the style but, it did have a couple of issues.

Wow! This was a nice beer! Crisp, smooth, and had a citrus flavor to it. A hint of carmel could be detected. Goes down good with some knackwurst and rot kraut.

In fairness, I will have to try this one agiain this fall. I drank this Oktoberfest beer in May, and it possibly just outlived its life. As for this one, it had a nice copper color, but a thin, white head and no lacing and little aroma. Taste was slightly hoppy, but mostly watery. At mid glass, hints of malt were trying to enter, but were mostly overcome by stale taste. Metallic finish left me not impressed at all with this. Again, given the high ratings by others, I’ll try a fresh one this fall.....as fresh as I can get in Atlanta, GA.

Pours a amber color with a slight haze to it. Smells and tastes a aweful lot like a saltine cracker. Biscuity nose and taste with a malty, and wheaty aftertaste. Not really any hops in this one that i can taste.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours hazy amber color with a white head, aroma of sweet malts, citrus, and hops. Flavor is malty, sweet, citrus, and spice. Not my favorite Oktoberfest, but good.

Dark amber. Small, dense, off white head. Aroma of lightly sweet, toasty caramel, a touch of honey, and subtle, crisp hops. Same flavor with more honey and more hops. Smooth, medium body. One of the best Oktoberfests I’ve had.

Bottle. Pours orange in color with a very thin white head. Lots of little bubbles coming to the top. Aroma of bread, caramel, toasted wheat cereal. Very mild flavor, very hard to pick anything out, it is malty, I don’t detect any hops and finishes with a wheat taste that lasts for a little while. A little fruity sweetness comes through as it warms. Medium bodied, but feels a little watered down.

500ml bottle poured a clearorange copper with a lasting off white head. Aromas of biscuity malt, carmel and a hint of n9oble hops in the background.Palate was medium to full bodied. Flavors of toasted malt, carmel and just a hint of hops with a smooth dry lingering malty finish. This is one MALTY mother of a beer!
