Commercial Description:
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

Pours to a orangey body with a white head. Nice lacing. The aroma is honey and nice toasty malts. The flavor is floral hops, honey malts, toasted malts. The palate is dry and lingeringly bitter.

Nice malty aroma, sweet and a bit of hops. Slight hazy amber with no head. Med body & carb. Nice malty taste, bit sweet up front. Good tangy bitter hops at finish. Light sweet bitter after.

Yellow-orange-red. This is just an average beer, nothing real exiting, but it doesn’t have any noticeable downsides either. Best oktoberfest-marzen i’ve had.

Nice deep amber coloured body with a frothy off-white head and a orange tint that makes this beer look exactly like the style should. Aroma of deep caramel malt, toffee, light nutmeg and cinnamon with some faint yeast qualities. A great looking and smelling beer! Medium-bodied; Sharp maltiness up front fading to a light spiceyness along with some vegetable tastes mixed throughout. Aftertaste shows some of the bitter malt and some light pit fruits. Overall - this one looks and smells great, but the taste and palate are just ’decent’. Overall, a good marzen to drink, especially if you want a German...but don’t look here for the one and only beer to drink during the season. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia on 28-November-2005.

16.9 oz bottle via trade with jzzbassman - Thanks Monte! - Pours amber a little cloudy with a foamy white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, and a bit of floral hops. Flavor is toffee, caramel, a bit of vanilla. Quite creamy on the palate and mouth coating. Seems carbonated just right. Very drinkable.. A very nice beer.

New rating: Light in color, crisp and a great example of the style. 10/01: It smelled and looked good, but from there it went downhill. Although I won’t deny it is a quality brew, it just doesn’t have any exceptional qualities.

500mL bottle. Pours a bright, medium orange-amber color; huge light-tan head that fills the glass; good retention and lacing. The aroma on this is pretty sweet, showing nougats and dried oranges and sugar; a bit overripe. Medium mouthfeel: I think where this beer succeeds over so many other märzens is in the adicity coming through from the citrusy hops: the hoppiness isn’t over the top or even all that immediate, but the jolt of lemony and orange acidity keeps that candy sugar and dried fruit core alive in the mouth; most other märzens are flabby by comparison. Lengthy, orange and candy sugar finish, with some mild citrus bitterness coming through.
