Commercial Description:
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

10.29.05 500ml bottle. Dark amber-copper pour with small, fading off-white head of tight bubbles. Aroma is fruity, raisins, big-time malts, a touch salty. Sweet toasted bread and lightly floral. Wonderful medium-full body. Finishes just dry enough to leave you wanting another sip. No wonder this stuff is always sold out when I think I’ve found it on tap, it’s delicious.

Frosted honey color with streaming jets of carbonation. Sweet buttery malt aroma. Malty, wort-like backbone with a wheaty flavor and body. Flavor is reminiscent of shredded wheat with honey and even some nuts thrown in. A fresh tasting beer with many elements suggesting a harvest – apropos for an Oktoberfest.

One of the better märzen’s this year. Clear orange with off white head with an appetizing hop aroma mixed in with the roasted malt body.

Big malt aroma with some spicy hop notes, dry pumpkin, pale fruits and pie crust. The body is a murky brown/orange and holds a diminishing tan head that starts a thumb thick. Sweet malt fore has a little butterscotch candy, sweetbreads, honey brushed dough and buttery sweet potatoes. Very nice and easy drinking.

Darnit, just missed being rater no 555! Bottle, should be fresh. Lovely nose, rich pale malt with caramel overtones and lots of lovely spice. Touch of grass and light, perky citrus. Clear golden with a rocky off-white head. Taste is tart and lightly acidic, spicy lightish bread with clear German hops and a soothing, soft body. Soft water. Touch of toast edging toward smoke. Light-medium body, but a rich malt base. Super, one of the best, and thankfully, relatively easy to find.

Wow, this is one complex Oktoberfest. Pours yellow-orange, with a medium white head. Bready caramel aroma, with alcohol notes evident. Rich and luscious flavor: bready caramel with strong mustiness, light fruitiness that becomes sweet and notable as the beer warms, and alcohol notes. Almost reminiscent of an amber ale. Nicely carbonated. A delicious example of the style.
