Slight haze to this otherwise ubiquitous pale yellow looking beer. Big foamy creamy head that hangs for a while after settling. Not much aroma but it does have a very slight wet rag mustiness to it. Taste impact is one of the better fest beers I’ve tasted. It lacks the strong bitterness that is associated with the higher rated fest biers. Barely any carbonation. Well mannered and friendly, very civilized. Finish has just a tad of mild well controlled malt bitterness and even hesitate to describe it as bitter. Its just simply present. Although very good, as I recall, it’s not up to snuff when compared to Hacker O’fest. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2002 Honey-like, medium golden amber color. Head is definitely there and so is the carbonation. Malty aroma, certainly some sweetness and caramel. Flavor is also largely malty (appropriately), with some spiciness, some very apparent caramel tastes, (sticky bun!) and a touch of hops, although these are hardly immediately apparent. Finish is rather long and malty. A bit more heavy-duty of a Fest style than I’m used to, but that’s not a bad thing. FROTHINGSLOSH (2036), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

Sampled on draft at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh this beer poured a medium golden color with a moderate sized white head. The aroma was slightly sweet and malty. The flavor was nice and malty. There was a noticeable hop presence that complimented the malt well without overbalancing the beer. A pleasant draft but not one of my preferred products from Ayinger. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 12, 2007 From a 500ml bottle--Poured a deep tawny-orange color with a robust and bustling head that soon disipated. Bready, grainy nose. Chewy mouth feel with full flavored hops and malts balance. Slightly spicy and noticeably sweet. This is what an Oktoberfest should taste like, I suppose. Smell of honey, malt, and yeast, with a creamy taste. mouthfeel is bubbly, and somehow almost a gritty aftertaste feel. Something distinct about the taste that I can’t place. Not bad, but not great. Somewhat of a sweet yeasty taste. mjg74 (2000), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 22, 2004 Pours a reddish golden color. Aroma is somewhat malty, with a little bit of a citric smell. Flavor starts off with a burnt maltiness to it. Finishes with an almost chocolate like flavor. Pretty smooth and appealing. sebletitje (1986), Tampa, Florida, USA
