Aroma of slight chocolate as well as malt comes through, also something a bit off. Taste is light chocolate, light toasted malt, sweet caramel, and slightly stale. Rich nose of toasted toffee bread rides undercurrents of sweet nutty grains. Well balanced toasty caramel notes round to a light hop finish. Medium bodied, light carbonation, dry malt finish. One of the best out there…. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2006 500 ml bottle. Golden amber was a little hazier than I had expected. Nice big head that stayed around. Aromas were the expected malts with vanilla and some caramel. Bready too. Some smokiness on the flavor that was pretty nice. Other roasted malts in there...more bread, not a lot of hop bite, but enough to give it a slightly bitter aftertaste. Pretty good for a syle i’m not a huge fan of...

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2002 Orangish in appearance, the subtle malting becomes more apparent in aroma and flavor as the beer warms. A bit light-bodied, however, the low roasted malts are pleasant, yet undemanding on the palate. A very easy to drink offering that I may have underrated on this occassion. travita (1952), Frisco, Texas, USA
