| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2001 Reddish coppery hue with light haze and carbonation. Pour is initially lively resulting in a dense rocky and enduring foam. Nose is toasted malt with a slight cookie aroma, mild grain and pepper. A spritzy mouthfeel is light to medium bodied making for a refreshing drink. Tasting shows more of the biscuity toasted malt, a grainy middle, rounding out with a little sourness and brief hints of dryness. I also picked up a few light metallic notes, and should add that the beer seems to find increased depths of fruitiness with food.
Probably my favorite Oktoberfest brew this year.

Smells of sweet grains, malts, and bready yeast. Pretty much typical of most of this style. The taste was heavy on the malts, the grains really stand out as well. Overall quite sweet, almost yrupy on the palate as well. I’m usualy not a huge fan of Oktoberfest brews, bu this was one of the better ones Ive had. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Nice nose here. Malt shines through with plenty of ripe red apples, caramel, bready malts and noble German hops.
Lovely, quite fruity, mainly apple and dark fruits, with malt notes of bread and light caramel. Quite sweet as well. The hops seem perfect in this. Impressive. DrnkMcDermott (1852), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2004 Bottled. A little light in color, but at least not as light as the Hofbrauhaus. Sweet and kind of sticky. A nice hint of smokiness here, and a toasty malt character. Poured a big frothy head, which is nice. CharlesDarwin (1847), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2008 500mL Bottle. Creamy warm bread and subtle spice notes, blaze through a bowl of cheerios and granola. Not bad. Pours a glowing, brazen copper, with a voluminous cloud head. Rich, succulent grains, dappled with earthen products, sweet and dry. Some grape leaf, brown rice. Fresh and crisp, with softness. Mouthfeel is rightly balanced. A classic in the style. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2007 Wow...this is on a whole different level than all of the American Oktoberfests I’ve had. Pour was an inviting light brown with a nice 2 finger head (there’s the heady Oktoberfest I’ve been looking for). Aroma of sweet malt with some roastiness...some dampness and funk in there as well. Taste was nice and malty with a humid mix of caramel, honey and roast. Nice carbonation. This is the first German Oktoberfest I’ve had this year and if the others are half as good I’ll be impressed. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2003 Nice gold-amber color with a thin film of head, spotty lace. Bitter citrus aroma, some malt showing up. Sweet malts and a bit of doughy/yeast in the flavors. Nice palate. Pretty good marzen. thegreenrooster (1839), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2004 Pours a nice copper color. Aroma is where it loses marks. Its just not there. Flavor is nice. A very nice mix of malts then hops. Not sure if this is a real marzen as it lacks the burnt carmel taste but it is still good.
