| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 20, 2009 500 ml bottle purchased at Lukas in Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is hazed copper orange with a big three inch tan white head. Head falls slowly with nice lacing. Soft carbonation floats to the surface. Pretty. Aroma of sweet straw and hay malt, with floral notes and a bit of a dirty mechanical odor. The mechanical odor detracted quite a bit. Taste has less of the dirty oily element of the nose, but is still present along with sweetish honey and straw malt and the soft floral. Palate is medium, low carb but still easy drinking. There was a nice beer in here, though it was outweighed by the dirtiness. I will give it another try someday. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 16, 2006 Brilliant orange color with medium white head. great lacing. Nice bready, sweet malt aroma. Faint nuttiness and toasted character comes through as it warms. Just enough floral and spice to balance. Flavor is much the same. Caramel/toffee/roasted nuts up front, with just enough hop presence to help clean the palate. Perfect mouthfeel. Probabaly one of the most balanced beers I’ve had, score reflects that, more than anything. Another gateway beer for me, that IMO is way underated. Butters (1652), Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Pours clear orange amber with good white head. Sweet vanilla aromas with caramel. Sweet, buttery, malty classic marzen flavor. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Excellent example of a german ofest, but im not the biggest fan of this style. GG (1640), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2006 Thanks to my brother-in-law for this one (excellent guy). The aroma checks in with a nice creamy maltyness that smelled clean with no skunk as other reviews may have mentioned. Flavors were really creamy, malty, nutty flavor that was really enjoyable. A really nice beer. kiefdog (1605), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours a clear copper color with thick and creamy tan head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, flowers, spice, some banana. Flavor is very much the same--creamy mouthfeel with sweet malt, some spice, some light hops, and hints of nuts. Lively carbonation. Medium body with a slightly sweet, quick finish. douglas88 (1603), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 11, 2007 500ml bottle. Pours a orangeish hue, with a powerful frothy head that dies down after a few minutes. The taste is smooth and easy; a soft malty sweetness, some bitterness and floral hops, and some spice. A good drink. Easy and tasty.
