Commercial Description:
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

I liked this stuff!!! Poured a deep amber color with excellent head retention. Aroma of light sweet malt, spices, and floral notes. Flavor was medium sweet malt flavor with obvious caramel character. medium mouth feel. Great beer!

(10/13/08) Draught at Map Room in Chicago. Clear deep golden color with a small white head. Malty aroma with some toast and caramel notes as well as nutty hints. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel, toasted bread, some light fruitiness and light buttery hints. Medium-bodied. Nothing exciting, but OK.

Bottle. Pours an attractive light copper with a frothy white head. Nose of rich caramel toastiness and noble hops. Notes of toffee, bread, toasty rich maltiness followed by balancing herbal, earthy hop character. The takeaway is pleasant, non-cloying malty sweetness. Very satisfying. Body is medium full, with soft carbonation. Great o-fest.

[Rerate 7 / 4 / 7 / 3 / 14 ] Pours a very clear light orange with a large foamy white head. Nice spicy malt aroma, light caramel and a good amount of hay. Medium bodied with weak flat carbonation. Flavors are quite balanced, lightly rich caramel malt with some spicy grassy hops. [8 / 4 / 8 / 3 / 16 ]Pours caramel/amber with a large foamy off-white head. Lovely spicy, caramel malt, and floral hop aroma. Really smooth barley-wine like caramel malts, warm and honey sweet, the hops really sit nicely behind the malt. Nice full/medium mouthful and gently carbonated.

Tried on tap at Ginger man. I didn’t have very strong feelings either way on this one.

500 ml bottle purchased at Monaghans. Poured an orange/amber with an initial large white head that settled into a thin layer that remained for most of the beer. Sweet malty aroma which reminded me off a mixture of chewy candy...caramel, toffee, butterscotch, molases. Body was a little to thin and the carbonation could of used some bulking up. Initial fruity flavor that is quickly taken over by a smokey maltiness. I was expecting more from this since it is rated rather high.

A clear golden pour with plenty of visible carbonation. Head is light orange. Half of it dissipates quickly and noisily but the rest remains for a few minutes. A fruity and spicy aroma that also offers pumpkin. Flavor is subtle with nutmeg, toffee, honey, pumpkin, and light floral hop. It is on the sweet side. Well carbonated up front but that fads mid glass. Subtle flavors but plenty of them make for an enjoyable glass on a cool October day.

Dark orange pour with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy. The aroma is reminiscent of fall spices. Flavor is spicy and malty. Actually slightly yeasty. tastey.
