Commercial Description:
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

Generous head over the light copper color. Nose had a bit of a nutty quality along with the malts. Slightly sweet taste of toffee. Smooth, pleasant medium-bodied mouthfeel.

From a 500mL Bottle. Pours a transparent brassy amber color with a thick head of soapy off-white. Sweet, bready malt nose with notes of toasted bread crusts, grainy bran muffin, and brazil nut flesh. No estery characters, but displays that clean, almost metallic nose common to many lager yeasts. Light bodied, with a shimmering carbonation that creates a melting, soft texture to the lagery dryness of the beer. Delightful malty flavors of nutty caramel, devoid of any unnecessary sugar sweetness. Bready, biscuity, nutty, baked muffin flavors, with only a gentle kiss of spicy hops in the final smack. Classic o-fest; meets every expectation.

Gem of a spring ale. Pours an orangey-caramel colour with a lively head. Fresh, zesty hop aroma. Creamy palate. Fabulously refreshing - like a good fruit salad. Pears especially. Hint of nuts in the background. Wonderfully balanced.

500 mL bottle, pint glass. Gigantic, frothy, off-white head is mostly diminishing. Beautiful orange body appears to be of medium consistancy. Hazy appearance from tiny, dense particles. Slight caramel and apple aroma. Yum...candied apples. Flowery hops and doughy yeast aromas. Flavor starts mod. sweet / mod. bitter and finishes mod. bitter with no acidity. A note of honey arrives in the finish. Light carbonation accompanies a watery body with a light / medium consistancy. Flavors are pleasant, but too subdued. Rerate: 9/7/03 Rerating with an in-season bottle. The big difference here is the malt. Much bigger malt with a fresh bottle. Old rating was (7,3,6,3,12=3.1).

Poured orange amber with a thin white head. Aroma was sweet malt, fruits. Flavor is sweet, fruity, yeast with a smooth clean finish. I just dont care for my bers to be too sweet.

on tap@gingerman in norwalk. Typical ofthis style, redish-amber body with a fast fading whte head. Caramel malt aroma. Flavor was mostly sweet malt notes. A truly unique palate were the beer seemed thin, but seemed overall heavy on the stomach. Areally crisp finish.

Wonderful cloudy orange pour with a huge foamy firm off white head. Malt and hops, sweet like an Oktoberfest is, but with good hoppy bitterness and an astringent dry mouth. Maybe some herbal or grassiness as well.
