Grain and caramel malt aroma. Sweet toffee dominates the flavor, but some light bittering hops bring the sweetness into balance. Medium body without stickiness, rather surprising considering the fact that it is predominantly sweet. A fine example of the style. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Pours a sparkling clear amber with a frothy beige head. Nice lacing. Clean bready malt on the nose with faint earthy hops hiding in the background. Light to medium bodied and slick (almost creamy) with a crisp, clean finish. There is just a whisper of metal at the finish. Solid toasted bready malt sliding to a lightly sweet note before toggling back to the breadiness and a crisp, light hop finish. IMO it’s lightly better than Paulaner (more complex) and is my favorite Märzen to date. piscator34 (1131), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 3, 2004 Orange in colour with aromas of malt, noble German hops, and sulfer. Surprisingly hoppy up-front flavor before moving into the caramel/malt territory. It gets downright grainy on the aftertaste. A little uncomplicated, but still pretty solid. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 16, 2001 This is a good German interretation of the style. Medium bodied with a great malty sweetness. Easily the equal of a Paulaner. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Pours a hazy amberish-brown, with a small rocky head. This has a great aroma and matches the flavor profile perfectly. Slightly sweet toffee maltiness, has that slightly toasty cereal graininess, with a small amount of fruitiness, and herbal hoppiness in the finish. Extremely well balanced, a shining star in this category. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA
