| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 28, 2003 Pours a pretty hazy light orange color with a large white head. The aroma was different...malty, sweet, lightly hoppy, but I'll go along with per and say that there was a spaghetti character there. The flavor was lightly hoppy, with a malty core...very satisfying. Bubbly, almost fizzy, feel rounded out a great Marzen experience. VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2001 Cloudy with a thick head and thick body that appears to stifle the bubbles from rising. Very thick creamy mouthfeel with some nice Marzen maltiness. The citrus twang and yeasty bite was weird and this appeared to be fairly high in ABV. An interesting brew to say the least, with some HefeWeiss qualities. One to try, just not in excess. This brew was a meal in itself. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 2, 2006 Appears a hazy, copper toned amber with a small, off-white head that fades into a fizzy collar. Streaks of lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of malty, sourdough, mild fruit, caramel, raw maple, with a off note that is a bit vegetal.
Taste is of the same aromas. There’s the doughy, caramel infused broccoli again that I’m just not digging. What the hell is that? It’s like an odd astringency that’s in there by accident. The sweet malts seem to be coving up for it’s inadequacies, nonetheless.
Mouthfeel is crisp, medium bodied, and slightly thin. This was one of the few Oktoberfests we found in the store during our weekend at The Jersey Shore. Even the wife was kind of let down with this, as it’s one of her favorite styles. Overall, it’s just sort of unexciting, and ho-hum.
It’s supposed to be a celebration, bitches! npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 29, 2002 Damn near prototypical Festbier. Light, sweet bready/malty flavor, with a very dry finish. The definite Saaz hop kick separates it a bit from other Festbier, but is a welcome addition. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2007 11/29/07: Bottle. Bright orange body with a small off-white head. Lace clings to glass. Aroma is floral and citrus-ie with some sweetness. Flavors of citrus, caramel malt, a bit of pepper and hops. Finish is slightly bitter… thanks for the ratings Dad!! nimbleprop (922), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 11, 2006 Poured a orange tinted amber from the bottle with a then lacing white head. I didn’t notice any aroma whatsoever, which was disappointing. Initial flavor was pleasing though, slightly roasted malt flavor, carmel and apple flavors. Finish is clean but citrus. Great seasonal beer. If it had any semblence of an aroma it would be a home run. rocbyter (921), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA
