Commercial Description:
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

This poured a nice amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was of sweet malts, bread and grains, and faint hint of hops. The flavor was much the same with the sweet malts dominating with the grains in the background. It was really sweet and sticky on the palate. Medium bodied that had a crisp dry finish to it. Not one of my favorite styles, but this one was pretty solid.

Hazy dark straw body, uniform off white head, glossy. Lots of fast rising carbonation. Light caramel pale malts, floral hops and earthy tones. A faint ester presence. Mild bitterness. Initially full body with a lively palate. Sweet and citrucy, some cloying, a hint of spice. Light cereal grain finish.

Bottle. Darker ambery color, compared to other Octoberfests sampled together. Rich malty and a touch fruity aroma. More caramel malty flavors, and a touch of bread or dough. Drinks smooth.

bottle. Pours a clear amber with a huge, off-white head. Nose is lagery and spice with nuts and dirty socks. Taste is is nut, bread and spice. Mouthfeel is smooth and carbonated. Not bad.

500ml bottle. My bottle labeled 5.6% ABV. Golden amber color with a thick creamy head and lacing. Aroma of malt and musty hay. Flavor is malty with a spicy hop finish, and some grassiness. A little crisp, and a little too much lager flavor. Excellent quality, but I still prefer the Hacker-Pschorr and the Paulaner in this style. $2.49 at Broudy’s, Orange Park FL.

Great maltiness in the body with a slight sweetness. Definitely one of my favorite Oktoberfests.
