Commercial Description:
Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

New rating: Light in color, crisp and a great example of the style. 10/01: It smelled and looked good, but from there it went downhill. Although I won’t deny it is a quality brew, it just doesn’t have any exceptional qualities.

Pour copper with a nice sized off white head. Aroma is bready toffee and caramel malt. It is rich, but not as sweet as most oktoberfests. Medium / full body with a decent amount of carbonation. Starts with toffee and caramel, rich biscuity like malt. The finish has some hoops adding spice. There is a linger mix of toffee and spice. This is an excellent example of the Marzen style.

Dark orange pour with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy. The aroma is reminiscent of fall spices. Flavor is spicy and malty. Actually slightly yeasty. tastey.

Big beige head atop clear light copper body. Aroma is unusual (which, in an Oktoberfest, is extraordinary) -- mildly sweet, malty, bready. Taste is medium sweet, malty, caramel, toasty. Clean, light-medium body. Pleasant beer, not at all what you generally find in the run-of-the-mill oktoberfest available in the States.

500ml Bottle (with a very cool cap): Lightly sweet aroma of malts, nuts, wood, dry fall leaves, grains, sourdough, and some caramel. Poured amber in color with a medium-sized, dense, creamy, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malts, bitter hops, oak leaves, honey, nuts, grains, rye, and caramel. Light to medium body. Slightly thin, slightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Malty, lightly bitter, lightly dry finish.

A very nice brew. Somewhat sweet, but not as much as their Maibock. I would gladly pound a few more of these. Plenty of malt. However, it’s a tad fizzy.

Bottle. A murky amber orange color. The nose has some true spice (cinnamon, ginger) to add to the heavy malt. A good dry, malty, citrus, and spice flavor.

Nice tall head. I enjoyed this beer, nice sweet and spicy malt with a good bitterness, but I am not coming up with too many other ways to describe it, not sure if that means it just didn’t offer much or I can’t describe it. Still very nice.
