Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Bottle. Pour is a dingy and light brown color with a massive, fluffy head. Aromas are heavy on the cloves and spicey yeast notes with some banana mixed in and a little sawdust. Mouthfeel is kind of grainy/dusty which compliments the flavors of cloves and such. Still, it is a very light dunkel. Just a touch of a sourness to it helps to keep things interesting, but I’m not sold on this one.

Strong apricot, banana, and subtle clove bouquet. Very dingy gold color, thick off white head. Apricot and banana flavor, with a light lemon grass finish. Delicious, nicely tart, and refreshing. This is an outstanding wheat beer. It isn’t terribly dark for a dunkelweizen, but who cares? The taste rocks!

I’m a pretty big fan of the dunkel weizen style and although this beer did taste good, I think it lacked some of the characteristics I look for in a good dunkelweizen. I could pick out no discernible scents of banana, cloves, or chocolate. It’s still worth drinking, it did go down very easily.

[bottle] Pours a cloudy deep gold with a modest off white head. Aroma is quite nutty with some yeast. Flavor is banana from the yeast, and a little nutty. Good.

500 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy, brownish-yellow color, not particularly attractive. Big, expansive head. Aroma of over-ripe bananas. The taste is predominantly sweet banana with undertones of other fruit and wheat. Pretty heavy carbonation. Well-made, but not my personal favorite.

This is almost perfect. Rich and malty with that beautiful yeastiness, with clove and banana, and a various assortment of other dried fruits. Nice carbonation, a superior mouthfeel, and still finishes quite refreshing.

One word, delicious. Pours light copper, only slightly cloudy, but mostly see through. Head is huge 3 inches plus, and settles down to an inch or so. Head is very thick and frothy. Aroma of medium wheat malt, and dark banana, and dry lemon/orange peel. Flavor is fizzy, wheat malty, but light, and has notes of apple, banana, vanilla, and clove. Finish is full flavored, body is medium. Aftertaste is clean. Another great beer from Aying.

Bottled. Beautiful carbonation thought this was Weheinstephan in blind tasting. Floral yeasts and clove are delicious in this brew. Was expecting a maltier taste due to the roasted malt appearance. Was pleasantly surprised how drinkable and delicious.
