Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

(Bottle BBE 12/2007) Aroma of roasted malt, banana, lemon and wheat. Orange colour (rather dark), murky (sedimentation in the bottle) and white, average size head with a hint of lacing. Fruity (banana, lemon), wheat, acidic, yeasty, slightly sour and slightly roasted malty flavour. Fizzy carbonated, sticky and medium to full-bodied palate with a hint of alcoholness. Very good Dunkelweizen! 01/07/07

Bottle 52F Weizen, Slighty sweet aroma, but mostly dominated by light yeast smells, very light aroma, slight esters very slight. Pour with a thick light beige head, it is a dark copper cloudy color, with a few dark specks floating inside the glass, decent retention leaves a lasting tan ring. Taste of yeast, with a touch of cinammon, flavor of bannana, fruity finish yet leaves the mouth fairly dry, just a touch of spice, no real notice of malts, well maybe just subtly, very subtly. Good carbonation on the tongue, but a bit light in the mouth, I was expecting just a bit more mouthfeel. Plenty of carbontion and it pricks my tongue all over. There are plenty some good sour notes as one examines it longer, mostly yeast flavor, not as complex as I had hoped for, but still easily drinkable.

Poured a murky amber color with a large off-white head. Yeasty aroma and flavor with strong notes of banana and clove. Lively mouthfeel. This one is tasty and stood out among the others in the wheat line up.

pours frothy white head that lasts-looks light brown and cloudy. aroma is sweet belgian yeast and malt with a hint of fruity wheat. flavor isnt very powerful on the wheat side-some sweet malt is present plus sweet bready yeastiness with a mild fruity aftertaste-not so much weisse character and very mellow overall but still good

Hazy orange color with a large frothy off-white head. Sweet banana and malt aroma. Sweet banana flavor with a wheat edge.

.5L bottle. Poured a tannish/brown color with a large head and lots of carbonation up the sides. This was a little lighter in color than I was expecting for a dunkel though. Aroma was weak, but had hints of some spice and some fruity esters. Flavor was also rather weak. Mainly yeast and cloves, but there was something offensive about it that I just couldnt put my finger on. I may pick up another bottle of this if I see it again, because I’m guessing that the bottle I was drinking wasn’t anywhere near being fresh.

Poured with a cloudy with a huge head that took a long time to go down. Flavors to me of bubblegum and spice. Nice malt and hops back up a slight sweetness. A good beer with steak.

Pours a murky orange with a rediculously huge head, perhaps i was to eager and poured too quickly. In fact so huge i had to let this one settle. Aroma is of fruit and spice that i could not put my finger on. Then I nailed it after the first sip bananas spice and citrius all come out in one very interesting and easy drinking. This was my first Ayinger beer and I’m excited to get my hands on more.
