Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

500 ml bottle - Pours a cloudy amber with a thin head and a very good aroma of yeast and citrus. The flavor matches the aroma with moderate malt sweetness as well. Unfortunately the body is too thin. I found watery. Definitely let this one warm up some. It was much too bland and watery right out of the fridge, but was notably improved later on. The beer goes down easy and doesn’t linger. It’s fairly good, but thus far I prefer the other three Ayinger beers that I’ve tried.

Pours a murky brownish with orange hue. Nice fluffy head which dies down. Has a roasty, sweet malt scent with yeast. Flavor is crisp suggestions of citrus and yeast as well as a pleasant roastiness. The roasted grains excentuate the flavor of the weizen beer, yet it is still incredibly drinkable. Tingles the palate.

(500 ml bottle from <!-- A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/portland/ target=blank -->Downeast Beverage Co.<!-- /A -->) Cloudy light grayish amber with very tall soft off-white head that pulls away pretty quickly. Aroma of grapefruit, banana and wheat malt. Mouthfeel pretty soft, kind of tingly esp. in finish. Flavor is a citrusy tang blended with wheat maltiness, some banana as well. A little citrusy bite at end.

500ml bottle. Amber/Brown hazy appearance, thick head. Banana/caramel/floral overtones... citrusy, nutty, malty. This is the kind of beer I love to drink, top notch!

500 ml bottle. Deep orange-brown beer, very cloudy with a thick white but fast-fading head. Aroma is initially fruity, with sweet plummy/cherry maltiness, special B notes overlaying a sweet clove/nutmeg spiciness. Initially comes across as a belgian dark. Very toasty. As the temperature comes up, the normal weizen banana notes come forward along with a heavily toasted malt aroma. Very wheaty. Orange/lemon citrus. This is like two beers in one, both of them delicious.
