Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Slightly cloudy dark orange pour with medium head. Aroma is very yeasty, as well as malty, some spice notes team up with a mild fruitiness making for a solid nose. Flavor is spice, banana, yeast, doughy. Goes down nice, making for quite a pleasent experience.

Delicious, peppery and spicy aroma, complemented by cloves, a little orange and lemon. Pours with a nice large head, and a deep auburn color. Taste is very peppery, lively, yeast and lemon, wheat. Full palate, very nice.

Bottle, in Finland. Orange with large white head, good lacings, mostly lasting, unfiltered. Aroma very malty (fruit, bread) and moderate yeasty. Flavor moderate sweet and light acidic. Light to medium body, watery/oily, lively carbonated.

A tall, fine head forms in the glass and the aroma suggests a well-crafted wheat. The yeast flavor is surprisingly light for a German wheat (maybe this is obvious since it is not a hefeweizen) and there is a high bubbling quality to the taste. All in all, this is a good wheat beer that lacks a little bit in depth as it leans more toward smoothness.

Bottle. Cloudy deep orange with a bit of sediment swirling around. Light tan head mostly dissipates quickly. Fruity. Figgish scent and flavor. Nothign I haven’t experienced but enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours golden orange/amber. Lots of carbonation, a large head results. Malty, yeasty aroma. Some fruits as well. Flavor is rich with yeasty, fruity, malt sweetness, spicy notes, subtle sourness, and an ever so slight roasty finish. Tasty brew.

Pours brown with almost no head. Smells of clove, figs, mace, nutmeg. Tastes of allspice, bananas, apple, and peppery. Masterful beer with a thick nearly perfect mouthfeel and a sweet finish.

This beer when poured is a nice brown color. It tops with an offwhite head. Initially is a little yeasty, but is then followed by spices. this is one of the best overall dunkelweissens I have had.
