Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

(Bottle). Very cloudy, rather murky light brown colour. Like most weissbiers it pours with a large head. Plenty of cloves, ripe bananas, oak and hints of smoke in aroma and flavour. A little more hops for the aftertaste would have been nice, but this is none the less a first class hefe-weizen. Recommended! (Thanks, joss!)

0.5 l bottle. Hazy orange brown color with fluffy head. Strong and fresh aromas of banana, clove, tart fruits, smoke and wheat. The flavor is very wheaty and malty with banana, clove and tart fruitiness. Full bodied oily palate with sharp carbonation. Excellent!

Bottle. An amber color with a foamy off-white head. The aroma has that delicate german wheat fragrance with spice, clove, and citrus. The flavor has banana and spice to compliment the smooth malts.

Lovely hazed magenta, soft cocoa, with a lovely, light layer of foam atop. Excellent look for the style. Aroma: Ahhhh! this is dunkel weizen! Clove is huge, and banana behind it, with traces of grapes and melons and berries, too...a beautiful mix, really, and the sort of thing you only find in beers of this kind. Reminds me of why I like the style so much. Masterful. Taste: mmmm...there’s a lot to talk about...bubblegum, banana, spices, clove, dark fruits, ...but still quaffably refreshing! An excellently sessionable brew, you can take several in all night long, classic representation of the style. Tasty, and quenching...gotta love it! Lightish body, lightly spicy finish, rich and delicious. Loveable mouthfeel, lushly carbonated, great flavor, wondrous drinkability. Class act, all the way. Yum.

Poured a murky, sort of nasty looking brown, with loads of chunky yeast bits swirling about. I usually go for this, but it really did appear kind of nasty. Good head though. Aroma of cloves and apples. Nice yeasty flavor, flavor follows the aroma spot on, maybe a touch of faint banana. Ugly, but nice.
