Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Hazy light amber color, brown hue; fine perlage, giant head. Aroma mixed of spices, wheat, vanilla, paper, banana and light apples. Good mouthfeel, some sweetness, later is spicy and lightly fruity (banana). Not a strong character, but quite drinkable.

Bottled (from weizen class)
Hazy brown/orange color. Big foamy white head. Typical hefeweizen banana aroma mixed with hints of smoke. Banana taste is also there but roasted malt dominates the palate. More crisp than sweet. Fresh but thin. (7/4/6/3/12 3.2)
Re-rated, bottled (BB 12/2004)
Hazy nut brown, rocky brown head. Sweet grilled banana aroma. Refreshing with citron and a hint of apple flavor. Well-done Ayinger. (6/4/6/4/14 3.4)

Thank you Masn/G2B.dk. It’s a dark golden beer with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of clove, wheat and fruit. The flavour has sweetness and notes of banana, wheat, clove, fruit and caramel. The body is full and harmonic, it’s truly nice!!! 2559

Bottle, bought @ Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg.
Pours a thick hazy dark orange with a small fizzy head that soon disappears. Aroma has banana, apples, dough malts and a citric touch. Wonderful oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, lots of wheat, fruity banana esters, light chocolate and a nice well-balanced spiciness. A very good dunkelweizen - perhaps it should have been a little more dunkel?

Forever lasting white head thrones above the delicate pure amber body. Initially seemingly simple nose: yeasty bananas and cashew nuts. It just grows on you and boasts a great palate, full, creamy with the finest bubbled carbonation, smooth and delicate. Plenty of ripe fruits (Bananas with a capital B, berries, pomegranate, orange, apricots) accompany the perfumey and bready yeast, elegant in itself and unveiling traces of cloves and even rye or grilled marshmallow sweetness rather than straight caramel. Good stuff, very malty, extremely clean with a confident balance. One of the most quaffable (while being pleasant) products I’ve encountered. Thanks Clark!
