Lovely caramel and toffee aromas with hints of bubble gum, clove, banana, apple, spruce, chocolate and vanilla. Flavor is very rich, unlike most other Dunkelweizens I’ve tasted. Peanut butter and chocolate, with hints of peppers, which leads into a finish full of bubble gum, banana, fruit and other various yeast attributes. A very good beer. Only hexane gets that out. I froth up the natural shaving cream and spread it over my henna and amber beard. After, a shot of bananas ninety-nine on the side with a glass of sherry on the rocks. It’s ethereal, as I heard wind pipes curve with faint sound. A trained monkey peels a banana and hands it to me. Quite ripe. I follow this with an unripe green apple. The stem smacks long.
<!-- p -->This beer seems a little pale for the style, but this is probably an ancestor to all the styles I’ve had, so this may not matter. I’ve nary had a beer where the fruit flavors were so articulate and on point. The banana and apples are acute and dominating. The mouthfeel is vacuous and escalating. A real pleasant feeling. A generally delectable ride through dunkelweizen land. LinusStick (1844), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of wheat and some banana. Taste was a delicious mix of yeast, wet bread and some caramel. There is a slight fruitiness in the background. Nice carbonation. Smooth medium body. Malty sweet glazed banana flavor with mild clove and tart wheat to balance. Very good dunkel. thegreenrooster (1835), St.louis, Missouri, USA

Flavor is nice! Lots of vanilla, banana and clove. A very nice dunkel, just the right amount of malts round out this tasty brew. RAYBOY01 (1834), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Huge creamy off-white, lasting head rests on a cloudy, apple-cider colored beer. Aroma is a little banana with citrus and cider. Taste is similar with even less banana, and more peppery, maybe from the high levels of carbonation (not a complaint; the high CO2 level is not overdone, and is nice in this beer). Very thirst quenching, goes down easy and has a smooth palate. Not real heavy; could definitely be a real nice session brew. Unlike some of the other dunkelweizens I have had, swirling the yeast sediment around and pouring it in the glass seems to actually diminish the banana/clove taste and aroma that I like in this kind of beer. I have had better, but to be fair they were on draft in Germany, so this is pretty darn good shipped to the States in a bottle. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA

Tried this dunkel-weiss at the Ayinger brewery restaurant and biergarten on a beautiful warm June evening. I can see why the Germans love their biergartens so much in the summer months! A golden brown, unfiltered, hazy dark wheat beer with a large white head. Good lacing. Fruity, spicy, citrus aroma with cloves and roasted malts. Fruity, wheaty, sweet-n-sour hefeweizen flavor with roasted malt depth. Full bodied, easy carbonation and very drinkable.
